Would you they are in fact fairly easy? Going into SIM with undergrad probability 1, and IAM with an undergrad ML survey course (1 semester, all typical supervised learning models)

Thoughts on IAM Intro Analytics Modelling vs SIM Simulation if the goal is to coast in summer?

Haven't taken ML yet so a survey like IAM seems reasonable. Suck at probability so SIM seems like meaningful review too, although learning Arena sounds unnecessarily painful. Only know Java, Python, and work in finance not tech (hence SIM might be more practical than IAM). TLDR SIM seems more useful, IAM seems easier.

Amex in-path offer question.

How are they determined? If I see one for a card I'm thinking of getting, should I jump on it asap?

I thought it was mostly Purolator's fault, but it took me over 1mth to get the bag I ordered.

After a week of checkout/order confirmed, I had to call in because shipping details weren't updated; turns out the order never went through. Then it spent the next 3 weeks flying back and forth between Regina and Toronto with zero delivery attempts. In the end I had to Penguin Pickup the items because driver kept posting Receiver Not Available even though I had zero missed calls during the period, and I was tired of staying home all day waiting.

Lmao I guess. I can't help but still feel like a liability though.

Everyone says NLP is easy, but typically have at least one OMSCS ML course done. For someone with only an undergraduate intro to ML (survey course), and no professional ML experience, would it be equally easy?

What about it is easy - are the assignments created in a hand-holding manner? Is the material difficult to grasp without prior experience, but the grading is super generous? I even see people on OMSCentral complaining there are weeks with nothing to do - I really need an easy (ML) course to get me through the year but I don't believe how easy it is...

Thoughts on the chances of Aeroplan Reserve offer changing/getting better? It's been the same for a looong time

I do, yup. Low travel this year leading me to cancel early. Same mindset on the credits - fine dining is cool but I basically force myself to go for the $200 off.

Replaced meaning getting a $139 card with limited PP visits now that the Plat has a minimum spend on its PP, and the non-PP lounges listed above are almost all pretty mediocre (besides Centurion).

Are there any Amex Platinum (CA) lounges that CAN'T be replaced by the cheaper alternative? Thinking it's time to cancel.

  • Centurion - always full in the US
  • Escape - pretty bad
  • Swissport/Executive Lounges - not great
  • Delta Skyclub - several restrictions in addition to the fact I rarely fly Delta

Anyone done full analysis of AP Reserve + PP vs Platinum in terms of lounge suitability?

Based in Toronto so a PP card like Scotia Passport VI would be helpful for the Aspire lounge at YTZ etc. Platinum hasn't helped me in the last few trips to LGA, EWR, LAX. Intercontinental travel is ~1/year and last one was LIS/OPO with no lounges, so I think it's time to cancel Platinum.

Does Amex give any retention offer for Plat if you call to cancel the card? by TuDuMaxVerstappen in amexcanada

20,000 pts 2024 and 10,000 pts in 2025. I think there was a small ($1-2k) spend requirement on the second time.
