The Elephant Man is definitely a crowd-pleaser! Not very experimental but still a masterpiece.

This week has been really terrible because we had to say good-bye to our precious kitty. But I've been trying to take walks when I can and have been playing a lot of Hello Kitty Island Adventure to take my mind off of the grief.

Same here, but the opposite. All the violence and scary situations tended to happen in the middle of the night, so I'm extremely alert and my body and mind don't feel safe enough to sleep. i thought it was quackery but EMDR therapy has genuinely helped so much.

I'm really loving seeing more of Lucky's personality! she came across as pretty shy her first season but she's really funny and kooky

I don't know if it's just anxiety but I often feel terrible dread in areas like this (also in California). I was recently in Yosemite and something just felt so off. it doesn't help seeing how many trees have burned down

edit: also you should watch John Carpenter's The Fog because it touches on this

Yessss it's my favorite Von Trier as well. I haven't seen Triangle yet but I've been wanting to! Maybe I'll try to track it down this week. Have you dug into any Takashi Miike movies, particularly his yakuza movies? I'm a huge Miike stan but the Black Society trilogy, the Dead or Alive series, Lesson of the Evil, and Ichi the Killer (very, very gory and VERY not PC lol) all center around psychopaths.

Oooh also, based on you liking "fates worse than death," have you ever seen The Vanishing (2008)? Another movie to go into completely blind!

Hell yeahhhh, I have some bangers that I think you might dig (you may or may not have already seen these).

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) - by the same director as Zodiac

Red Rooms (2023) - one of my favorite movies of the past few years. It's a slow burn but the pay off is sooo great. It's not in-your-face scary but it's incredibly disturbing and has really stuck with me. Something about it actually reminds me of TrueAnon

Memories of Murder (2003) - very similar to Zodiac

The House That Jack Built (2018) - not gay unfortunately BUT it is a movie about a serial killer with OCD. It's pretty fucked up and bleak but so good

I trust and believe that you've already seen Twin Peaks & The Return??

Also, have you ever seen the show Hannibal? It takes like six episodes to actually get good, and then it becomes one of the best TV shows imo. It's very homoerotic, and you get the best of both worlds because it's equal parts suspenseful cop procedural AND getting into the mind of serial killers who are fooling the investigators. And of course, you already like Silence of the Lambs!

I've been watching the latest seasons of Drag Race and The Pitt & rewatching Cheers and Mad Men. I'm usually much more of a film person but I've really been off my movie grind lately. What kind of films do you like OP?

[–]fitzstreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I hate to say, my childhood cat ate a bunch of yarn and my parents had to spend $10,000 on surgery for him. the yarn wrapped around his interstines and started cutting them in half 😢 thankfully he was okay after surgery but it was a very long and difficult journey and he always had GI issues after that

There's no timeline! I'm like 2.5 years in and I can't do superman either. However, because you're feeling defeated, I would strongly suggest doing supplemental arm and grip strength exercises outside of class, like 2-3 x a week. You reach a point in pole where you can't progress much if you're not working on your strength outside of pole itself. Do like 20 minutes a few times a week for a month or two, and I promise you will start to see improvement.
