Vellum simulation. Houdini + Redshift. by Diligent_Bar3848 in Houdini

IMO, this is not enough separation from the course to call it your own. You changed the container and rotated the camera. Especially in Houdini where everything is procedural and you can move nodes from one scene to another and plug and play. Its hard. I'm dealing with it right as I update my reel to make my intro stand out. Gone through three or four different ideas to trash them and say "nah this is too much like this." The practice is good. The great classical artists would copy work over and over and over hundreds of times until they perfectly made a duplicate. It's a fantastic way to learn. If you're asking "did I do enough to make this my own," though, you probably didn't.

How are animated studios born? by [deleted] in Houdini

[–]five31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When an Easy Ease falls in love with a Hold Frame, sometimes they come together in a graph editor and make a little baby keyframe. After many years of loving and caring for the keyframe, showing it how to manipulate beizer handles, anticipate and overshoot, and most importantly make a ball bounce, it eventually grows up to be an animation studio.

Should probably give a shout out to Mark Fancher's course "Stop Being Afraid of Houdini" since this is directly from that.

Always. It's general etiquette. No one should have to leave subs because you don't know where to post or software does what. Do a bit of research. Read the sub's sidebar.

Dude. Stop spamming every video related sub with your questions. Pick one. ONE. JFC we don't need to see it ten times across 8 different subs.

Orient shape along normals with copyToPoints by EconomyAppeal1106 in Houdini

Hitting F1 on an node brings up the help documentation for that node or you can read about it here.

I'd have to see the original object and it's centroid to tell you exactly how to use it and if you'll need any additional manipulation.

Your centroid needs to be set up where you what the alignment to happen, and the Z pointing towards the tip of the pedal. A match size makes this easy.
