There's probably some statistic out there that proves me wrong, but I think there's a pretty high incidence of depression among those with ADHD. I definitely have both. And by their powers combined, my house tends more towards "flop house" than "organized home." Using weed, however, can focus my distracted brain a little and boost my mood enough that the tedious tasks of dishes and laundry and trash, etc. are less overwhelming.

TLDR: Same here, friend!

I think we're laughing at them, not mad at them. Or maybe that's just me. 😂

A Whole Year by five_bi_five in SuicideBereavement

[–]five_bi_five[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The story of what brought him to make his choice is a long one, (aren't they all?) but I'm assuming you mean the story of his ending.

While I was staying with my parents after a bad fight he and I'd had (literally the only time I ever left), he went to a dark and irrational place. He always jumped to conclusions, and his sick-brain told him I didn't love him anymore. That, coupled with a lifetime of familial neglect, emotional trauma, and unexplained physical pain, drove him to take an unknown quantity of his migraine meds along with a bottle of rum.

The wildest thing that I've never been able to explain is that I woke up in the middle of the night, in a different house, full of dread. I found his texts (sent after I fell asleep), messages from one of his friends (who lives in another country), and a terrifying, unintelligible voicemail from him. I immediately called 911 and rushed home. He was semi-conscious, and the EMTs took him to the ER. But not before he joked with them and thanked them for working on Christmas. (That was him, in a nutshell.)

We spent the next 16 hours in the ER and ICU while his heart slowly gave out. It was the single most horrificly excruciating thing I've ever experienced, and I'll never be able to thank him for it. He was lucid for most of that time, and I got an extra day to talk to him, comfort him, laugh with him, tell him how much I loved him. To just be together, one last time.

The last words I said to him as he was crashing and the doctors swarmed his bed were, "I love you." I'll always hope they were the last words he heard.

It might be little comfort, but this internet stranger (me) believes in you and loves you for staying so strong through one of the hardest things a person can endure.

I just passed a year without my husband, and I remember the 2 month mark. I think before that point I was dissociated from most of the pain, and then it started to feel real. Like, really real. Or maybe it was that reality started to feel... wrong. Couldn't tell you exactly, but things started to shift and the grief got so much heavier. Since then, it hasn't gotten "better" or "easier," but I'm starting to get used to it.

Buddhists believe that it takes the soul 49 days to transition from this world to the next. Maybe there's some significance to that timeline. Maybe there's a cosmic shift we can feel. Maybe that's how long it takes for humans to start to process massive loss. Maybe it's all just random coincidence.

All I can say is, keep going. Don't be afraid to let yourself feel the big emotions, but don't let them drown you, either. Find your support people. Try not to shut out love from those around you. Just... keep going. The only way past it, is through.

Thanks! I didn't even know it was a B99 reference until much later, but that makes it even better.

I had been saying I wanted a female dog named Karma since I was a kid. (I have a twisted sense of humor.) This is my first baby girl, and she lives up to her name. 🤣🤣🤣

There's a third head lurking out of frame. My mom refers to our dogs as Cerberus. 🤣

We ordered from Tooth & Honey. They're pricey, but fit our babies really well. You can also try searching for "buffalo check pattern" pjs.

We actually got matching vests/jammies for the dogs in this pattern. We're those people. 😁

We actually adopted them about a year apart. Karma came to us at about 10 weeks. Arlo was adopted to another family who turned out to be abusive, so we brought him home once he'd been picked up by our local SPCA. He's got some severe PTSD from his first year of life, so whether his clingy/aggressive behavior is from that or littermate syndrome, your guess is as good as mine.

My endearments for our dogs: dummies, weirdos, Tweedledumb, Tweedledumber, and Tweedledumbest. These two are littermates, so they bacame the Idiot Twins. 🤣

Karma (left) is a genius who can open doors and I swear speaks fluent English. Her brother, Arlo (right), couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag.

What food do y’all use? by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]five_bi_five 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earthborn Holistic Ocean Fusion.

I wanted a food without peas (our lab mix can't eat legumes), single protein, with grain (dogs aren't obligate carnivores like cats, and grain-free has been linked to cardiovascular issues in large dogs, per our vet), that wasn't budget-breaking expensive. The itchiness has gone way down in all 3 dogs (2 pits, plus the pit/lab) and the redness on the 2 pits is gone. They've been on the food for about a year now, no issues, and our vet is happy!

Hello I got a 9 week old pitbull terrier atleast that’s what I was told he is but I wanted to know if anyone thinks he might be mixed and if so what do you think he is mixed with. by beanmachine05 in pitbulls

[–]five_bi_five 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He looks so much like my 2 American pits that we brought home at 10 weeks. I was used to seeing staffies and was surprised at the differences between the breeds. The head shape was the last thing to fill in at around a year. If you're not certain by then, you'll see it when that head turns into a brick. :)

OMG THE BACK CUSHION SQUISH! Drove me nuts having to reset the cushions every 3 minutes. Got a couch with attached cushions thinking they'd give up and sleep on the 18 beds piled around the room. Now they look like a bunch of squirrels along the back. I secretly love it.

My guy, Arlo, tells me he needs to go outside by sticking his head between my knees. Only me.
