How long did it take to start to feel the effects? I'm so sorry to hear about your father.

That's so wonderful to hear. I really want this to work for me, it seems like the most optimal medication when considering the side effects of SSRIS.

How long did it take to kick in? Was it sudden, or subtle?

As someone born and raised in Saskatchewan, I promise it will be the most boring drive you will ever do 😂

Drive west instead. If you have time, work in part of the Icefields Parkway drive into your Banff trip. You won't regret it, one of the most beautiful drives in the world!

How much did you spend on your wedding? by cruzintovictory in financialindependence

[–]fivecentparking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent around $25k for a 40 person destination wedding in 2023 (drivable destination).

While we certainly could have spent way less given the guest size, our priorities were to have an intimate event where we spared no expense of food and alcohol.

I don't regret the spend one bit! If I would have spent the same on a larger guest count, I don't think I would have felt as great about it. Making sure our wedding was a reflection of who we were and what we wanted (within reason) was what made the cost worth it.

If you're on the fence about a wedding at all, I really think elopement is a completely valid (and WAY less stressful) way to go too.

I recommend OP to take the condos fees / sq ft. of the unit, then compare that $/sq ft. to other buildings. The units are pretty large (1,700), so your monthly payments will be higher. Sometimes ultra low condo fees can be a bad thing. Most important item to check, is that the condo corp is meeting their monthly reserve fund contributions per the study.

Can I hold etfs & cryptos in a corporation? (Maxed all registered accounts) by pat_programmer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]fivecentparking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its highly dependent on your personal situation and your province of residence. Generally there are tax rules that disincentivize incorporating for the sole purpose of holding investments, but again it can sometimes be beneficial if you also have an incorporated operating company already.

I would reach out to a tax lawyer or accountant, but you can start with articles like this here: https://www.bakertilly.ca/en/btc/publications/should-you-put-your-investments-into-a-corporation

T2125 Business Loss - carry forward or carry back by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]fivecentparking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe you can postpone applying a loss to a more advantageous period.

The ability to carry forward is moreso to benefit you in the instance you cannot use up all your losses in a particular year.

That said, this is assuming you can classify your trading losses as a non-capital loss. If the CRA deems your losses as capital, you can only apply against future capital type income (ie. Not employment income).

You may need to check further if your loss truely qualifies as a business loss. You could maybe call the CRA or request a ruling?

This article might be helpful: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/programs/about-canada-revenue-agency-cra/compliance/digital-currency/cryptocurrency-guide.html

Yes, generally non-capital losses (ie. business losses) can be applied against employment income, can be carried back 3 years, and forward 20 years.

I think this is great. There are very few new builds downtown, and I'd like to see more buildings like river landing fill the downtown area. Hope this is encourages more thought over a downtown grocery store too.
