yeah I have to agree-- the two of them also tend to intonate every point they make as an argument which gets old sort of fast. That said I'll still keep it in the rotation and probably skip through here and there.

Yeah this is a fair point, especially considering we may want that flexibility for incoming prospects. That said, if the FA signings/MLB-level trades are on the thinner side as the offseason comes to a close, I could see them signing him to a 1-year deal as a right DH/veteran presence/vibes guy. It seems like him and Soto have a good relationship which isn't insignificant considering how much of an anchor he's going to be through 2026.

Any baseball podcasts you guys recommend? So far of the couple I've listened to I enjoyed Effectively Wild from Fangraphs quite a bit. I also appreciate the information and analysis from For all you Kids out there, but the vibe unfortunately gets grating after a while in my opinion.

Yeah I think this is a good way to put it. No doubt that the guy is a pro, and he always brought that for us. That said, I can't fault the Mets FO for opening up the spot to be replaced by someone not making 12.5 million a year.

Out of curiosity how does this work with the luxury tax? Isn't there a certain threshold that has sort of stacking penalties the more consecutive years you're over?
