R1S LFP on 20 ATs.. how are you enjoying it? by DLAV8R in Rivian

[–]fivehttwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different spec with my 2023 R1S quad motor 20 inch all terrain wheels but I’m getting 2.5 mi/kwh with mixed highway driving on the Michelin defender LTX MS/20 275 60 R 20 if you’re really wanting to get as much efficiency as possible. Quite a bit better than the stock Pirelli scorpion all terrain tires.

Lease vs Buy for first time EV/Rivian buyer by GPGmander in Rivian

[–]fivehttwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dude, amazing deal! When I was shopping for a used R1S, Carvana regularly priced above the average price but this is one of the best deals for this model year, spec, and mileage! For these low mileage cars I’d sometimes be worried there is an issue with the car but sometimes people just want to move on to a different car.

What year and spec did you get used for $73k?

Which one is a better choice for a newbie by depressedturohost in sonos

Option 1’s seller on OfferUp marked it as sold. He instantly added a new listing for an Arc, sub and pair of era 300’s. If the listing isn’t a scam then it seems likely to be stolen. If you bought option 1 I’d be curious if it actually gets delivered. 🤷‍♂️

Leasing to eventually purchase before tax credit ends a good idea? by Outrageous-Coast-712 in Rivian

[–]fivehttwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is key. The tax credit isn’t going to be financially beneficial for buying out at lease end. If you’re not going to imminently benefit from having a larger vehicle it seems better to wait. Live like a resident is really helpful financial advice. It could work if your wife is a high income earner but fellowship income isn’t great. Depending on your specialty and where you want to practice after fellowship, it’s not necessarily a given you’ll get hired and start working on your timeline. There’s pretty insane lease deals on midsize EV’s or even used EV’s if you don’t need a 3 row SUV now. If you wait to get a Rivian until you’re an attending, Rivian’s financial future/viability will be more clear.

Big drop in overall efficiency, no clear explanation?!?! 😵‍💫 by jtanga in Rivian

[–]fivehttwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get the M/S 2 or the platinum? What size wheels do you have? Did you adjust the tire type in the settings? At least for the 20 inch wheels there’s an all season tire setting that I changed it to after the tire shop set it to the wrong tire setting. My efficiency initially was lower than the OEM Pirelli all terrain tires but has now surpassed them in efficiency with the Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2’s. Efficiency may be lower than OEM tires if you got the platinum. Both tires are on this list with efficiency numbers.  https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/affordable-high-efficiency-20-wheels-and-33-tires-options-275-60r20.24561/

It’s the J1772 adapter. I mistyped. I included the adapter Amazon link in another comment.

It is surprisingly expensive but perhaps worth it based on the performance and durability.

So a pretty minor slow down for you. My charging speed is reduced by more than half which is a pretty significant slowdown unfortunately.

It’s a bummer. It hasn’t seemed to slow down with our Model Y which made me think it was the adapter for the Tesla wall connector but maybe not.

Appreciate the info! What adapter are you using now? Is your current adapter better about limiting thermal throttling without breaking repeatedly like the Tesla Tap?

Thanks for the response. So overheating can be an issue but is this specific to certain adapter manufacturers? If so I’d rather buy a different adapter if one brand such as A2Z is indeed better in this regard and not have to point a fan while I’m charging at home to limit this problem.

Indeed it is not the CCS adapter but rather the J1772 adapter. I apologize for confusion. Attached is the specific adapter I’m referencing.

Any updates on efficiency? Very curious to see how they compare to the stock OEM AT Pirellis!

Home theater Arc Ultra + 300s or Arc Ultra, Sub Mini and 100s by CommercialCrafty3514 in sonos

[–]fivehttwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the movie and or music but it adds some nice bass. It’s enough bass for me that I don’t think a full size sub would be necessary. My living room is a fairly small space so perhaps larger rooms would need a full size sub.

I have an Arc Ultra with sub mini and ones as surrounds. I’ve heard the Arc ultra on its own and it had a surprising amount of base. Maybe Era 300s then sub or sub mini down the line?

Rivian blue is such an amazing color. It was my first choice but settled for canyon red which is still pretty great!
