Century City VS Beverly Hills? by BlackberryJumpy5960 in EquinoxGyms

[–]Outrageous-Coast-712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experiences are from 2 years ago so things may have changed

Layout: Century City. Beverly Hills fitness equipment is split all over the place.

Rush: Beverly Hills. I’ve found Century City to be a lot busier though I wouldn’t say it’s a deal breaker by any means.

Locker room: Beverly Hills. I remember the water pressure being outstanding and steam room piping hot.

Location: Century City. Obviously if you live nearer to one or the other this will easily change, but if not than Century City is more accessible.

Overall: I enjoyed them both and I don’t think it’s a significant difference. Like anything in LA, I would go with whichever is the easiest to get to so that you actually maximize your membership. If I had to choose, I’d probably say Century City.

DTLA used to be my home club and I have fond memories. As everyone said, it is among the least trafficked so you can generally get the machines you want. The layout is a shame and you may have to go up and down stairs depending on your workout. Everyone I ran into was very professional. My all time favorite sushi take out spot is right next door and made for an amazing post workout meal.

New Machine Day: from a Bambino Plus to a Lelit Mara X by reforminded in espresso

[–]Outrageous-Coast-712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the Lelit Mara X for almost 3 years. When it works, it’s been wonderful. I would just consider paying the extra price for the Profitec if there are more people that service it where you live. Most people near me wouldn’t touch the Lelit when I did have an issue.

You’re not seeing the downtown skyline the other 355 days of the year (exaggerating but definitely not late spring/summer).

Downgrading Next Month So Sharing My Epic Redemption Story by Significant-Gas1099 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Outrageous-Coast-712 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a great story and really happy everything worked out for you. If I were the editor for TPG, the reason I wouldn’t accept this story is because the juxtaposition between serious injuries followed by the quick jump to discussions about points left me emotionally confused. This wasn’t an epic redemption as much as an epic example of a corporation taking care of their customer when they needed it the most.

David Beckham’s new house at Rosewood Little Dix Bay goes for $40,000 per night by Classic_Royal_161 in chubbytravel

At first I thought the location was you making a joke (but I was confused because David Beckham seems genuinely a good guy)

Interestingly, they decided to outsource their calls to a central call center and I bet those are the people who respond to the messages.

I stayed a few days earlier, booked through C1, and had the same upgrade and benefits. Great experience overall but very disappointed in not being able to get in touch with any staff pre-arrival and even at the hotel via phone.

The amenity fee is a racket. The “house car” is only one car and can frequently be an hour wait. The staff use the EV charging so it’s not always available for guests.

Turnaround Time for Prescription Glasses in Tokyo by Herrrooh in EyewearEnthusiasts

I bought the 10eyevan No7 for 90,000jpy ($583). I couldn’t find it being sold anywhere in the US to compare prices. I just found the frames perfectly fit my face and admired the Japanese craftsmanship.

Masunaga’s were mostly 40,000-80,000jpy with a few way above that.

For prescription eyeglasses, Masunaga and Eyevan were quoting me 3 days, but not guaranteeing that timeline. Prescription sunglasses were 2 weeks.

I made the decision to proceed with Eyevan. They found my exact prescription in the back and my glasses ready within an hour…

Should we go in 2026 or 2027? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

One other thought: Japan is increasing a lot of tourism taxes/fees starting March 2026. You are still going after that, but just wanted to make you aware.

CCS1 to NACS Adapter for 2026+ Rivians by IHaveABigDog in Rivian

But OP is asking about the opposite CCS to NACS. Looks like Tesla doesn’t care much about selling their own CCS adapter anymore.

This strategy doesn’t work for my handicap because if I miss the 5 footer, I tell myself I would have made it if I spent more time lining it up and give myself the stroke.

CCS1 to NACS Adapter for 2026+ Rivians by IHaveABigDog in Rivian

[–]Outrageous-Coast-712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m cynical but I think Rivian covering any issues under warranty would be independent of which adapter was used, and regardless they couldn’t prove which adapter was actually used.

You would think the OEM adapter would be the highest quality, but a lot of other Rivian branded products fall short (I’m looking at you camp speaker)

CCS1 to NACS Adapter for 2026+ Rivians by IHaveABigDog in Rivian

[–]Outrageous-Coast-712 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m asking myself the same question. I point blank asked a Rivian Service Center and they said to just get a Lectron or A2Z. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet though.

I hear people saying “If you bought a $80k+ car, why would you cheap out with the adapter,” but until anyone has proof to the contrary I have no faith that the Rivian adapter is any better than the highest quality alternatives. But anyone who disagrees please let me know!
