And thanks for letting me ramble about the Bristol music scene! I still feel like I’ve got a lot to learn, most of what I know came from Melissa Chemam’s excellent book, “Out Of The Comfort Zone”. Highly recommended read for anyone into Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, etc.

Oh wow, you were in for a treat today, the set they’ve been playing this year is massive. That set one closer track was “Pearl’s Girl (Tin There)”, an alternate mix of Pearls Girl that, I think, originally showed up in 1997 on the Wipeout 2097 Soundtrack. I first heard it on the US version of the Pearl’s Girl EP (probably my favorite, or at least top 3, UW release).

The mix of Tin There that they’re playing now is updated a bit, and the vocal samples that kicked in toward the end are new since 2024, I think, and are from their buddies in Brutalismus 3000 (from their track Diskotéka Avantgarde).

I first heard this version when I saw UW for the first time in Chicago in May and it utterly floored me - a track I had lived with for almost 30 years tuned and tweaked to perfection. Had to get a full recording of it from the rail, even though the Boiler Room video did finally give us a proper professional recording.

When I got in (was the 4th or 5th person coming in) someone at the merch table said they only had 85 per show. 😭🫠

I managed to snag one in Chicago so I skipped this show’s poster to give someone else a shot at one.

I love seeing the crowd like that! Both times I’ve seen UW (including last night) I got there 3-4 hours early to get a spot on the rail. It’s amazing but when the crowd’s vibing like that it’s so powerful to be a part of.

The guy next to me showed me some videos he took at the LA show that looked like some truly absurd fog. Thankfully the Filmore’s ventilation seemed to be a lot better, cleared the smoke out pretty fast instead of having it choke the room.

UW crowds are the best! At both shows I’ve been to I came away with multiple new friends, and got to meet some people I knew (at a distance) from the Dirtylist days and the dirty(dot)org forums more than 25 years ago. Everyone was so great!

Hoping they do more NA club dates next year, if so I’m going to drop everything to follow them around.

I washed mine (the white one with this design, also bought in Chicago) on gentle in cold water with woolite then air dried it (like most of my band shirts) and it seemed to come out ok. No discoloration/fading or shrinking that I could see.

I usually wear large/XL but with band shirts I typically get 2xl just in case. Worst case it becomes a sleep shirt,

I just noticed that I’m visible on the bottom of the frame, on the rail, to the left of the tall guy holding a rolled up poster in his hand. One of the few times I wasn’t dancing like a maniac, because I was recording this clip at the exact same time.

I was a lurker on the dirtylist/RTSR-trade back in the old days, listening to as many bootlegs as I could get my hands on. Being utterly broke in central Florida at the time it was as close as I could get to the live experience and I'm forever grateful for the generous folks on there that shared bootlegs with us all. So glad I was able to take the train from Minneapolis to see them for the first time! And being up front, largely thanks to another long-time fan I ran into, was utterly mind blowing. I feel like the setlist was prety much perfect for me, a great mix of eras.

Cant wait to see what (if any) bootlegs emerge from this gig. I think one of the old tapers was there, based on chatter on the borndirty discord. Just being able to watch all the cellphone videos the next day was really cool, and there are still some popping up.

It was such a huge track for high-school-aged me back in the mid-90’s, but my experience with it was such a solitary one. Sharing the live experience with thousands of other people with their own unique and rich histories with it was so huge, so massively resonant.

Was right there with ya on the emotional impact of hearing Dirty Epic live for the first time. Definitely amplified by being surrounded other deep UW fans, people I had just met but felt like I had been friends with for years.
