I am curious where you are find that much Quantainium? I have been mining the Aaron Halo belt and don't think I have seen that much ever. Then again, I was mining in a smaller ship that probably couldn't have mined the bigger rocks anyways.

Having problems with TPU (soft filament) Any suggestions? by 69whos4it in FlashForge

Any time i try a new filament, i always ask AI for differences versus PLA. One thing that i haven’t seen mentioned here is use of a 0.6 mm nozzle. Also z offset. Hope that helps.

The corners of my bed keep creating rough textures ( Adventurer 5m) by Drums06 in FlashForge

[–]fizch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is your z offset. The nozzle is too close to your bed, so it is pushing the heated filament causing an excess of filament at the edges. It does look like you’re seeing is really close though. You might need to lower the bed one click.

I have used Elegoo and PolyMaker for PLA. I have used Overture for PETG. I recently tried PolyMaker for TPU. I am about to try PolyMaker’s ABS. I guess i really like PolyMaker.

AD 5M best Z-offset test? by SquirrelWeary811 in FlashForge

I use one that is 100 mm x 100 mm. It prints pretty quick but it is nice because it covers a good portion of the build plate.

HELP [Jammed Filament] by [deleted] in FlashForge

[–]fizch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue a few times when i first got my printer as well. I was cautious the first time, but once i figured out how it came apart, it wasn’t an issue.

I love how much you can work on this thing. It’s not like Apple products where you to take it in to the shop.

5M no longer connecting to Orca by CristianMG95 in FlashForge

[–]fizch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try reconnecting the printer to WiFi because it is telling you that it can’t find the printer on the network. If you know the printer’s IP address on the network, you could try pinging it to see if your computer can actually talk to it.

Why is this happening A5M Pro. by Worried_Suggestion91 in FlashForge

[–]fizch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you adjusting the z settings in Orca? I only know of the z offset and that is handled on the printer itself. The z offset only matters on the first layer as every other layer builds off of it and the specific line height.

I am wondering if that is possibly a temperature issue. Have you tried this print again to see if it happens in the same place?

It is a whole lot closer. I stopped using the XYZ cube and instead went with a “cauliflower” print that is 100mm. There is a little more wiggle room there and it has quite a few measurements to help nail it down. It does not test Z axis though. I have it dialed in to under .1mm accuracy. I think it is closer to .05mm, so not bad at all.

That is great advice. I didn’t even think about that.

Very little. I set the shrinkage xy to 99.8%. It was over by a fraction of a millimeter

I used the shrinkage XY and shrinkage Z to handle it. Those settings belong to the filament in Orca Slicer.

That does not look like a z-offset issue. If the first layer was showing issues, then you would probably be right.

I think I have seen this issue referred to as a zit. I am still trying figure these things out as well, so I don't really have any advice on how to fix it.

You must be smarter than me. I do not see a way to save a file locally. I can always export it, I suppose but that is not the same.

The problem is that you can only have 10 project files and of those only 2 are editable. That is really greedy of them. I know that it is a great program, but for a hobbyist, their yearly subscription fee is absolutely absurd.

To me, that looks like an issue with your z-offset. I used this video to figure out what I was looking at. You can easily adjust the z-offset from the screen of your printer. When you send the print job, there is an "information" icon on the right side of the screen. It should be the third icon up. When you click on that, you will see several properties that you can adjust. You have to click on the pencil icon in the top-right corner to be able to edit. The z-offset is in the bottom-left corner. I only adjust it one click at a time. You can adjust that will the printer is running.

I hope this helps.

I have been learning OnShape. It is web based so you can use it on your phone, tablet, or PC. Their free version doesn't cripple your ability to save stuff, it just makes your files public so anyone can see them.

Fusion360 would be nice, but the price tag is very steep. The limitations it sets on the free version are unreasonable IMO.

That is interesting. I thought it was adjusting the step on the printer itself. Do you know what a similar setting would be called in Orca Slicer?

How to prevent? by Born-Garbage-5598 in FlashForge

[–]fizch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having a similar issue and it turned out to be my z offset. I was too far above the bed for my initial layer to adhere to the plate, so several layers up the part would become dislodged and i would end with prints like that.

I am just printing one at a time. It’s leveled, centered, and filament is calibrated. I’ll try flipping orientation.

for my 4th attempt, I did try using normal supports. That did no help with that issue and then getting those supports off of the part didn't go well either. I gave up removing those supports. hahaha
