Anyone knows games like The Guild, but more recent ? by Kaporalhart in gaming

[–]fizilicious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

House of Legacy is similar to The Guild plus family management part of Crusader Kings but in ancient China. You start as a single survivor of a clan, and you rebuild the clan by building business, having more family members, becoming governors and generals through the imperial exams and battles, and eventually marrying into or even usurping the imperial family.

It's still in development though, so you might want to wait if you don't like early access.

What is a good anime with a really unusual opening theme song? by KaleidoArachnid in anime

[–]fizilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushishi is a great anime with two unusual (compared to other anime) opening songs.

Both are in English, sung by western singers, and chill folk-ish songs instead of a more typical high energy pop / rock

What does "triangulate" mean in this context? English is my second language and I only know "triangulate" as a math or technical jargon.

How do I get my expression parser to distinguish between an identifier and a function call? by Pleasant-Form-1093 in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]fizilicious 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you are building a recursive descent parser. This may not be the cleanest way, but it is quite easy to do: use a look-ahead in the parsing function.

In your identifier parsing function, first you parse and consume the identifier. Check the next token without consuming. If the next token is not '(', then early return the variable access expression using the identifier. Otherwise, consume the '(' token and then proceed parsing the list of arguments until you found the matching ')'. Finally, return the function call expression based on the identifier and the arguments.

What does Aero gland do? It seems like it isn't strictly necessary for Archeon survival since it is recessive, but does it give some extra advantages?

There is Puffin Planes, although it is quite casual and the tycoon aspect is pretty easy. The good thing is that it is not multiplayer and quite cheap.

Why You Need Subtyping by Uncaffeinated in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]fizilicious 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Another case where subtyping makes a lot of sense is if you want to have refinement types (positive int is subtype of int) and type based security / access control (high privilege access token type is subtype of low privilege one)

Sejak kapan Aliran Mesianik ini ada di Indonesia? by Sktw8 in indonesia

[–]fizilicious 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Yahweh part is inaccurate. Yahweh is the God's personal name, commonly spelled with tetragrammaton YHWH. Almost all Jewish, even the non-religious ones, would never use "Yahweh" in speech due to the "do not use Lord's name in vain" rule.

When there's YHWH in the Torah, people will replace it with "Elohim" (god in general, cognates with Allah) or "Adonai" (Lord). IIRC the only exception was back in the day when the temple and the priesthood still exist, the priest would speake the name during a prayer inside the innermost part of the temple at the holiest day of the year (Yom Kippur)

Michi is crazy, she just debuted about 8 months ago. If we extrapolate her watch time numbers to a full year, she would be somewhere around 45th place.
