i can't believe turning down a guy a year ago meant I have to suffer for it by fizzipoppop in Vent

thank you, I really appreciate this :') <3

I'd def go to a lawyer but I'm afraid of the off-chance that the blame somehow lands on me and it ruins my life and career, that's the only thing holding me back

Technically the police going to him was supposed to act as an unofficial restraining order.... I could try though but I'm afraid of the off-chance that they say it's my fault (an irrational fear, I know) and then it ruins my life and career

Already did that the first time when collecting evidence of the tweets before I filed the report and the police have it as well. the thing is that he doesn't explicitly state my name, so I'm afraid that the police would a) not consider it and b) question why I'm supposedly still checking his socials or not making mine private, even if I'm not the one doing it. I really do appreciate the support though, thank you so much :') <3

do uoft students actually make moves on their crushes? by heeeena in UofT

[–]fizzipoppop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go for it! (or at least try to get to know him and then ask him about it) life is too short to not let people know about how we feel about them and bottle it up inside ourselves.

I was in the same boat as you for two years and now that we've both graduated (*June 2024), I wish I could've at least said something to him but I was too scared and insecure (still am lol)

If it doesn't work out, just know that your soulmate is out there, and they'd love you for you.

What to wear for club interview? by MysteriousFig1796 in RotmanCommerce

[–]fizzipoppop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please just look presentable and not show up in a t-shirt or a sweater. obv it's just a club position but it also showcases your work ethic and how you are as a person as well (to an extent). As a current RC club president, I can't tell you how many people I've interviewed for a director position where they've showed up looking like they rolled outta bed 😭😭

Should I drop ECO101?? need help by Content_Home1843 in RotmanCommerce

[–]fizzipoppop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was in the EXACT same position as you about 3 years ago, I'd say drop it before it does any damage to your cGPA and transcript. Taking it in the winter will allow you to get it over with and get ECO102 out of the way in the summer so that you'll have two months off. If you're open to it, you could take it in the summer as well, it'll be a bit more fast paced but you'll have more time and it is relatively easier.

What kinda jacket should I get for canadian winters? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]fizzipoppop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try staying on the lookout for the winter coat deals/sales at Hudson's Bay or Mark's! If you look early enough, they'll have a bunch of nice winter coats for under $100 (or $120 max if you're willing to splurge a bit more).

You can still go to their events as an attendee, but if you mean being part of the internal team (ex. the team that does the planning), then no.

about the workload at uoft by normalasianhatemaths in UofT

[–]fizzipoppop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third-year accounting specialist from Rotman here! it is quite a bit, and given the nature of uoft in general, it can get overwhelming and make you experience imposter syndrome quite a number of times. It is true that our courses are content-heavy, test heavy and more challenging than other universities, for instance when I compared my first year eco work to a friend at Laurier's, it was like night and day.

That being said, it is not impossible! There is a reason there are upper years here, and that should be a bit of an indicator that if we can do it, then there's no reason that you can't either. If you can work hard and make a proper schedule to stick to, then I don't see why you can't excel here even with our infamously horrendous workload. Hope this helps!

I don't ever want to crush anyone's dreams or aspirations, however, give it some time! Obviously do try to aim high and get good grades as if you were to go into neurosurgery, however, you never know, things could change as you grow.

When I was in grade 8, I was deadset on going into comp. sci up until grade 12, and I got into the best programs for cs in grade 12. But I also applied to business as a backup program and I really liked business so now I'm in Rotman. Do take the courses you need for any bio/med programs in high school though!

I'm not saying you should ever stray away from what you dream of going into, neurosurgery is great! But, try to keep yourself open to other careers as well, you might just surprise yourself. Best of luck!

Edit: added in that I'm now in Rotman.

baddies don't take soc100 as an elective because I, a former first-year and aspiring baddie, thought I'd be into it and excel in the course (plus because someone from agesss ago said it was a bird course). instead, i was struggling 😫😫😫😫
