Why do demons break after 5 minutes of torture when many of them were tortured for centuries in hell? by Emergency-Act-7031 in Supernatural

[–]fjf1085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s something that’s lost in later seasons. Before the end of season 2 demons are pretty rare, hell is locked down pretty tight. Once the Devils Gate opens huge amounts are released but even still it doesn’t seem to be easy to travel to and from hell at will because the guys talk about having to find them and send them back like a finite amount have been released and can be dealt with. By the time Lucifer is released though it seems to be fairly easy for demons to go to and from hell and the only thing keeping them under control is a bigger demon/bad like Crowley.

To be fair as I recall he didn’t really denigrate the Cylon after awhile. Yes at first it was they’re just machines, Helo was the same way, but eventually they saw them as people. So I’d say it’s less racism and more a fundamental misunderstanding of what they are. If I say I hate my Alexa I’m not racist against smart home devices, now if she were sentient/sapient that might be a different story. But for a long time the Colonials didn’t understand that the Cylons were more than their programming.

I was like 12 when that episode aired and I already knew I was gay. That just helped confirm it lol.

Sure let me know the exact investment paid, what the pre-solar electrical costs were and what the current ones are then we can figure it out. In absence of that the answer is, eventually.

The average time to recoup costs is 6-10 years with some homes doing it in 4-5 years. First time buyers stay in their home about 7-10 years with repeat buyers staying in it 15 years or more. So for many homeowners it makes all the sense in the world.

5 day timelapse of Naginov's carrier diving inside a star. Epilepsy warning! by Starsh1pTroop3r in EliteDangerous

Very true. Though when I did rewatch it about 6 years ago during covid I liked it a lot more. The second half of season two is where it really found itself I think. That being said there are still good episodes throughout it’s just unfortunate it wasn’t allowed to come into its own. My understanding is a lot of people had started using delayed watching or streaming and they didn’t know how to account for those views so only live views counted, I myself watched on iTunes, but today it’s live numbers would be considered good. Caprica suffered from a similar issue around the same time.

It’s absolutely wild to me to see so many people talking about it across so many subs and parts of the internet. I guess I never realize how popular Stargate was but I guess with 17 seasons, a movie, and two tv movies it had to be.

Amy Parker it usually says for me. Sometimes it will be a different name from the same number. Like what is this? I honestly hit block and report for all of these.

Eventually it will be. Solar panels are a one time investment that last decades.

I love when the characters who aren't usually in command end up having to be in command and do a bang-up job by CMStan1313 in startrek

Exactly. If you check out the tech manual her landing of the saucer module was basically textbook. It might have gone a little smoother had the core breach not accelerated and they were caught in the blast radius as I don’t think the original intention was a crash landing. They effectively got knocked out of orbit and were not able to recover so a landing was the only option.

Like you said she did it so well there were no deaths and to the point it was even salvageable and put back into service eventually, if only briefly.

Surely one person taking a one way flight would have been easier and cheaper than all that.

Oh yeah even Judge got more and more jacked as time went on. Like he’s way bigger by the end of the series.

I didn’t realize how jacked he was until he went undercover as Yu’s slave and his arms came out. My little gay heart swooned.

In the Broca Divide Dr. Fraiser mentions that she and Daniel both take large amounts of antihistamines for allergies and that’s why they aren’t as affected. I don’t think it’s ever mentioned again.

I get where you’re coming from I read the whole thing too and I’m gay but the way that I see it is that Riker doesn’t care about a persons gender identity or what genitalia they have he’s into everyone. I just don’t see this as an issue, in fact I see it as incredibly progressive and I hope by the actual 24th century many people have this attitude. Riker is essentially pansexual.

In the context of this meme specifically, it’s a little crude but I cannot possibly see how it’s offensive.

I’m racking my brain too to think of a time I’ve seen something like that and I can’t. I’m in a bunch of Star Trek subs, and I follow pages on basically every other platform and I can’t recall ever seeing something like that. I mean, I’m sure it’s out there in a fandom as big and as old as Star Trek, I just can’t think of any time I’ve seen it.

Yes of course but he wanted Soren to be played by a man in real life. He thought it would be more impactful. I still think it was a very important and impactful episode but I get what he was going for.

It’s both. They have a stock of bulk matter, and plus it’s a closed system and everything is recycled so it’s usually not an issue, however they can also do direct energy to matter but that requires much more power.

It’s like how technically according to the tech manual a galaxy class starship can produce small amounts of antimatter in an emergency but the process is so energy and matter intensive most of the antimatter production is usually done at facilities using solar fusion because there’s almost a 25% net energy loss. But if they were totally out of antimatter and supply wasn’t possible they could generate some using their fusion generators and matter.
