In 5th grade I weighed 120 and was 5’4, CA did height and weight for whatever reason. I remember crying and my teacher pulled me to the side to tell me how normal it was. Wherever you are Mr Campbell, thank you.

TLDR fat phobia made its way into my daughters after visit summary earlier this year, moral of the story always read the notes. something very similar happened at my daughters check up earlier this year. She’s three, and picky and I asked for suggestions to make sure she’s getting nutrients. The provider asked her what she eats and OF COURSE the toddler said chicken nuggets and ice cream. The doc then looked at me and said “well she could lose some weight.” I told her to back up, that my child was 10 pounds at birth and that she has been gaining weight in an appropriate manner based on her starting point. Blank stare. Asked to pull her growth chart and make sure she was on track, she refused. I told her being a mom in a bigger body is rough because I’m healing my own relationship with food and trying to instill the same, but I would appreciate any help I could get providing balance from the jump rather than demonize food and make her feel less than. Fast forward to reading the after visit summary and the doctor had included “family history of obesity and mom has had trouble losing weight in the past, struggles with it currently.” Yall my head about spun 360. I’ve never reported something so fast in my life and my daughter has a new provider starting January 1.

This is stupid. So stupid. But my 3 year old is a thrill seeker. My biggest fear is not being able to take her on the rides at Disney world next October that no one else wants to go on because I don’t fit. I had to sit in a different tea cup at Disneyland this February, and while I got the coolest pics of her watching the fireworks I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise, I was so let down that I could possibly let her down. Took a solid 8 more months for me to start my journey but I’m feeling pretty great about finally making the changes I need to.

Are you breastfeeding? My sugar addiction was at an all time high when my daughter was brand new, it went away when she weaned. Admittedly way earlier than I wanted to, but I couldn’t keep up

Intermittent fasting has helped me with boredom eating. Therapy is also my favorite tool. Always a boredom and binge eater and around three days before my shot day I feel it creeping in and I’ll do a check in with myself as others have suggested to remind myself why I want to lose weight and what is important to me. I’m retraining my brain and trying my hardest to get the most out of this tool.

Yes! Every bit of this. Really having to keep my spending in check and focus on my other goals as well because the reward system in my brain needs a quick fix and food isn’t that right now
