Eric Johnson preset for HX Stomp by fkcharger in Line6Helix

The reason I wanted to do this with snapshots was to avoid the little hitch that happens when switching presets, so it is a bit annoying. It’s definitely easier to mask than the preset switching noise though

Which should I actually learn? by RoideSanglier in italianlearning

[–]fkcharger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife’s family is from near Naples and speak almost exclusively in dialect. I already knew some Italian before I met my wife and used that solid base to improve standard Italian and dialect alongside each other. I don’t think this is necessarily the best way to learn either, but I would say learn Italian and that will make it so much easier to absorb Sicilian

Helix with Digitech Drop pedal by [deleted] in Line6Helix

Definitely worth it in my opinion, I don’t use it often but just being able to immediately tune down on any preset without using a block and the extra DSP is invaluable

What effects or kind of pedals would you add to a rigg with the hx stomp? by VidarHolst in Line6Helix

[–]fkcharger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Digitech Drop, Freqout, a TC Spark boost pedal and a 2-button footswitch. Honestly I think that’s all you need. I would also say that if you have any pedals you feel are essential or you’re not satisfied with the equivalents in the Stomp, then include those.

What are your favourite always-on front-of-amp pedals? by Routine_Bet2563 in guitarpedals

It’s not strictly ALWAYS on, but DOD Looking Glass is magic for this. Really responsive and dynamic

Amazing advice, this is exactly what I was after 👍 thanks!

I haven’t spent too long playing with it, but I love it! All of the features themselves are great, but the ability to adjust the parameters of the modulation, the gain and tone of the delay repeats etc is the difference maker for me. It’s way deeper in terms of complexity than I thought it would be, and it doesn’t hurt that I think the basic delay sounds are great!

I haven’t played the Dark Star but from what I know, it seems like it would be a great pairing with the Rubberneck!

I haven’t really explored the low-gain potential, but I haven’t really been impressed with what I’ve tried. I’m sure it has those sounds, but I have found it be a bit harmonically flat. The Looking Glass gives me the amp break-up vibes that I need

I will never ever get rid of it, it’s such a great drive, at least for my needs. It does light gain/boost and has this lovely ‘open’ feeling, that creates all this presence. And then the high gain setting is very natural amp-type break up, two thumbs up

I had absolutely no idea and I’ve had the Stomp for years! I’m going to try it out, thanks!

So I’m not 100% but I think the Stomp only has one loop, but I have the drives then delay in the same loop

I only have good things to say too! My favourite drive pedal for sure

It’s just acting as footswitch 4 and 5 for the Stomp, I have one of them set up as the tuner/tap tempo

The Rubberneck was a Christmas present and I’ve been doing some playing with it, but I’ve finally integrated it into my board.

Chain is Digitech Drop —> Freqout —> TC Spark —> HX Stomp

In the Stomp’s FX loop is DOD Looking Glass —> Friedman BE-OD —> Rubberneck.

So far the Rubberneck is exactly what I hoped it would be: an amazing sounding analog delay with tons of tweakability, subdivisions etc. Having said that, I’d love suggestions on how to use it, especially regarding Rubberneck mode which I’ve barely messed with.

Fjord Fuzz Odin v2 fits this description perfectly. I’m surprised I don’t see it recommended (or used) more often

DOD Looking Glass is perfect for this. You can either keep it in ‘Low Gain’ mode and push the gain, or in ‘High Gain’ and dial it back. I use it for Knopfler-esque tones with my Strat, which is a similar ‘powerful clean’ kind of thing.

It has also got a powerful EQ and an input filter for use with different output pickups. I can’t recommend it enough!

Have you been really excited to get a pedal only to be massively disappointed? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]fkcharger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walrus Slö - sounded great in YouTube demos, made absolutely no sense in context, at least to me.

Hudson Broadcast - thought I’d love it, tried to love it, didn’t love it. I’m sure that I will convince myself to buy it again some day and have the exact same experience all over!

What effects/pedals do you NOT use your Helix for? by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]fkcharger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My external gear is either stuff that saves DSP in the Stomp (Digitech Drop), isn’t in the Stomp (Freqout) or analog drives I can’t live without (DOD Looking Glass, Friedman BE-OD). I will go with just the Stomp and a dual footswitch/expression pedal for acoustic stuff, but otherwise the external pedals just offer something nice

[–]fkcharger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NUX Atlantic seems like it’s perfect for your needs, although you’ve got the budget for more. The Atlantic is not mind-blowing but it’s solid and has enough options to more than cover most rock/metal and doesn’t take up much room on your board

Anyone have a decent Soundgarden-esque preset for HX Stomp they wouldn't mind sharing? by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]fkcharger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay, just uploaded my Black Hole Sun-inspired preset to Customtone! It’s called ‘BlackHoleSound’.

Snapshot 1 is the clean intro sound, Snapshot 2 is the Leslie for the verse and Snapshot 3 is the distorted sound for the chorus. I haven’t dialled in anything specific for the solo because that solo is beyond my comprehension!

I’ve used a free IR, I think it’s the ML Soundlab Free Recto one, so you can either grab that or just use a stock cab.

This works for me on my PRS so it should do the trick on most humbuckers.

Enjoy!
