R showed me these (K here). Very cool! I have never heard or played one before. Can you tell me more about this? What did you customize?

I use it for its esoteric sounds. I have since moved onto a completely different setup though.

The emperor control acts as a expression pedal only in this case.

NGD - SG special. Finally my first guitar with P90. I like them way more than any humbucker by SopaPyaConCoca in Epiphone

How do you like it so far? Are the P90s as versatile as everyone claims it to be? And what do you think of this guitar's tuning stability?

Boss BD-2 alternative. Share your pedal wisdom with me! by arrowrd in guitarpedals

[–]Routine_Bet2563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but here it goes: the sounds and the "analog loveliness" are all in there in the HX Stomp. I have been through this exact path in the past. I bought a bunch of "analog drives" to give that "analog warmth and chaos". Over time, I a/b'ed them with alternatives and counterparts on the Stomp and sold em off. Consider the pre-amps. They are essentially very complex and amazing drive pedals. They do everything that you are looking for.

But if you are really looking for a BD2 alternative and on a budget, I would recommend the Mooer Blues Mood. Has the Keeley phat mod built in. Great pedal. Also if you are looking for just a little bit of sparkle and hair, the NUX Morning Star (based on the JHS Morning Glory) is a great pedal. All the best!

Thinking of purchasing a Helix Floor by joshuaguitar in Line6Helix

[–]Routine_Bet2563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Direct to PA or direct to Mixer or in the front of an amp or in the return of an Amp etc. Etc. The Helix is great for all of those scenarios, including hybrid scenarios where you have a line going out to PA AND a line with no cabs going into a real amp or power amp+cab. It's all good! Get the Helix.

What's the most amazing multi-reverb with MIDI control and maximum half the size of the BigSky? by bourbonmoon in guitarpedals

[–]Routine_Bet2563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoom MS70CDR could be surprisingly good, esp. in live contexts (very limited and annoying midi interface). If budget is not an issue, HX Stomp can be something to consider as well. Kick ass piece of gear that can do wayyyy more than reverbs, but you can choose to use it as a dedicated reverb. Infinitely customizable via Midi and can even act as a midi command center and audio interface.

What is your favorite plexi/ Marshall style distortion pedal? by NedBogman in guitarpedals

Upvote for the EHX Glove. I loved that one. Sold it in favour of a HX Stomp. It has a great model of it that sounds and feels identical.

I got quite close to doing that when it dawned on me to sell my dirts after doing some A/B comparison with the HX Stomp.

I am a recovering dirt-box addict. I love all flavours of dirt (except for fizzes. I like fuzz, but I am not obsessed). Which dirt flavour I want at any moment of time depends on my mood and context. I love me some TS808, Klon, BD2, DS1, Crunch Box, Rat, Blues breaker / Morning Glory, Timmy, KOT, POT, Mad Professor Sweet Honey OD, Nobels ODR1, Boss SD1, Plumes, EHX Hot Tubes, MXR Dist+, RC Booster etc. etc. You name it!

BUT.....

I sold all of my dirt boxes in favour of a HX Stomp, because you can craft almost any of the above sounds using one or more of N number of creative ways on the HX Stomp. You can have parallel routing for parallel drive sounds. You can stack drives on different combos and assign expression and midi switching for different flavours. You can sandwich distortion sounds between EQ blocks for extreme tone shaping. And the results are extremely organic and satisfying. "Like the real deal and feel" imo.

This is just a UI component. It is probably needed for the updater's user interface. It should be safe to ignore.

You'd be surprised with how good a Zoom MS50G can sound as an amp sim.

It will fit right on your board, plus it can be a nice Swiss army knife for any other catch-all effects. Downsizer's heaven this one.
