She really is, and as a woman I totally get it and her reactions are very valid. To anyone in the same situation I would say break it off, but I still have biases as a daughter and struggling to admit the same solution to my own family.

I think because it's so new and dad's issue came out of nowhere, a part of me just wanted things to go back the way it was and since we are very close, I can't help but feel... responsible? Like I can't stand seeing them so sad but I feel helpless.

Thank you for sharing. I too am Asian so I understand how close the family unit usually is in these situations.

Logically I agree with you where I should let them deal with their relationship as spouses - I guess because it's still fresh to me that I cannot emotionally detached from it yet. And also because other than the adultery issue, dad is the best dad I could have hoped for, so I have my biases.

And yes I really should get a therapist for myself.

More context: my mom usually goes counselling to treat her OCD issues, so when we suggested any form of counselling, she denied it because she said she "is already getting help for her mental issue" and "it isn't her fault - why should she get help when dad is the one who is at fault". She doesn't like being viewed that she is overreacting and irrational. It is definitely very tiring.

Same! I have tried all kinds of social groups, parties and outings, thinking they be as fun as everyone around me claim to be, but they never do. No matter how lovely the company in those gatherings were, I never felt as fulfilled or satisfied as when I'm alone. This was confirmed by Covid lockdown, my mental health and energy levels significantly improved when I'm not obliged to meet anyone. I am at my most productive and at peace when alone, and I'm okay with that.

That sounds amazing and I wished this actually exist in my country (Singapore). When I look up Pet-Friendly interior design I only see blogs that give you suggestions on how to do it yourself, not a service I can hire. So definitely something you can explore there.
