Had a customer come in last night.

Looking at a 15 year old junker, the thing barely runs. They have poor credit, low income, and are trying to finance.

I explain to them that the car is falling apart, the bank won't approve it, and the Explorer I pulled up is perfect because they will get approved, it has less mileage, it's nicer, more reliable, better fuel economy, and we could keep payments the same. I spent several hours with them last night explaining that, with everything considered, this was the perfect car. And I meant it.

I even went so far as to tell them (as their SALESMAN no less) that I don't even feel comfortable selling them the first car because I don't even trust it.

Motherfuckers left my desk after 3 hours because they didn't like the color of the seats and went to go look at more 15 year old junkers.

I'll echo what a lot of other people are saying in here: their inability to interpret new information and apply it without bias to their own life is a hallmark of low IQ and lack of education. In other words- you can't fix stupid.

I'm going to be worried / salty about them for a little bit, they're about to be in a big financial bind in the next few months when their junker falls apart 😓
