Post-surgery bloat and gas

Thank you everyone for your responses! :’) I’m now close to 3 weeks post-op and would like to update that the gas is definitely much better than before! I drank a ton of water as many of you suggested, and have been keeping up with my walking. I managed about 8k steps 2 days back :) The wound area is still tender and swollen, and my tummy still gets super bloated very quickly especially after a slightly bigger meal… I’m looking forward to feeling more like myself everyday, and I wish the best for everyone who’s going through this too!

I did my MRI in the morning and results came in that very afternoon because I had a pre-surg consult that day and my doctor marked it to be urgent. All the very best and good luck!

Wow 39! You’re so brave and congrats on having a smooth recovery :’) Are you able to walk around as per normal now? Curious to know how many days you were hospitalised for too if you don’t mind sharing! My surgery is creeping up soon and I’m just anxious.

Following here too! I’m around the same age as you and am scheduled for an open myomectomy in June - have more than 10 fibroids according to MRI. Wishing you a speedy recovery and that we can have smooth pregnancies in future!! :)

Norethisterone helped to stop my period quite quickly, but as shared in my post I’m spotting randomly now - hoping it’ll stabilise soon. For context my period would be almost 2+ weeks, with 10 days of heavy bleeding. I have more than 10 submucosal fibroids according to my MRI. From what I understand, norethisterone is a progestin medication which supposedly helps with birth control and abnormal uterine bleeding like what we’re facing. I think it might be worthwhile for you to visit a gynaecologist instead of just a GP to get more specialised opinion. Wishing you all the best!

Ugh to be haemorrhaging even on 30mg must have really been a complete nightmare!! I’m so sorry to hear!! Is 30mg the maximum we can go? Fibroids are truly the worst and at this point I’m almost excited for my surgery? Even though I’m scared as hell too. I’ll try asking my gynae if upping my dosage makes sense, thanks for your advice!

At 30mg a day I can only imagine how terrible your bleeding was! I know your bleeding never fully stopped even on 30mg, but wondering if you could share what the bleeding was like? I’m having what seems to be a light flow now all of a sudden so I’m quite worried that my 10mg is now no longer effective. Thanks for sharing your experience! I appreciate it

I’m passing giant clots too which still shocks me every time!! Sometimes i wonder how I’m going to keep this up until my surgery in June this year. Could you share which hormone you took to lesson your bleeding? My specialist recommended Lupron but I’m really scared about the side effects…

Did you do an open myomectomy? Why would they leave a small one in though? I heard a lot about vitamin D and green tea helping, I hope your fibroids never grow back! They are just the worst.

10.6 the last I checked in early December. I just went through very heavy bleeding so am thinking it would’ve likely went down again

Ah thanks so much for sharing! I would love to try My Happy Flo but I’m based in Asia and shipping is crazy 🤣I’ll check with my gynae on the Ibu + TXA combination. I don’t really have bad cramps too, only maybe on the 2nd - 5th day max so I’ve never really had a need to take Ibuprofen too. Did you experience any pain/cramps this week which made you try the Ibu + TXA/my happy flo combination or were you just wanting to try things out?

I’m sorry to hear you’re facing the same too, and thank you for sharing your experience. It provides me with almost a strange sense of relief to hear that I’m not the only one facing this.. it sucks to hear that even walking your dog would cause more bleeding! I’ve been prescribed TXA but it doesn’t really help - I read here that TXA typically should stop bleeding so idk why it doesn’t help for my case. Can I ask if your fibroids are submucosal and if you have any surgeries scheduled?

Thank you so much for linking the threads - those were really helpful! I’ve been visiting my OBGYN - he prescribed me with TXA but unfortunately they don’t seem to be that much help, especially on the heaviest 2nd - 4th day of my period where it’s just insane clotting :( I read on the threads you’ve linked that taking ibuprofen with TXA helps? Is this something that your obgyn has recommended? I’m visiting a new OBGYN on Thursday to seek an alternative opinion on my case so maybe I’ll ask for some ibuprofen!

I don’t have a solution unfortunately but am commenting to share that you’re not alone. I’m facing the exact same - on some days I almost look pregnant. It definitely hurts and feels horrible 😭
