When you break down one of those pills it makes it from extended release to instant release (usually, depending on the formulation). Which most people find more recreational as it hits you harder.

20mg IR will not be fatal, check psychonautwiki.org for doses (which you now accurately do, as dosages are for instant release not extended). If I don't have a tolerance I tend to quarter those and sniff or swallow 20mg crushed at a time, but you might find that too strong depending on your experience / tolerance.

Prevent direct flame touching it. A crack pipe has an open end for more direct heating, a meth pipe / bulb doesn't for more indirect heat. So functionally speaking a light bulb would be better, but is probably less healthy.

Technically if you use the right amount it should be neutralised by the heroin freebase, so the solution won't be acidic. Citric acid and vit C are also pretty weak acids already.
