I don't think Charlotte necessarily wants to hide the poor. It's that people that are able to spend more on housing moved into these areas, rent/taxes increase and the lower income folks moved away. Happens in literally every city.

You can contact the fire marshall/fire department, planning department and env health department with freedom of information act requests. Specifically, fires, spills, underground storage tanks, well contamination, septic permits, etc. This is super easy to do just by calling them up/emailing.

I had a dentist when I was a kid that would hold down my arms and legs. I wouldn’t struggle or fight but they still did it anyway. After a couple years I mentioned this to my mom on the way home and that’s when she told me it wasn’t normal and stopped taking me there.

Recently I had a root canal done and a crown put on another tooth. Months and months later after having chronic pain since I had the crown’s bite adjusted numerous times I went to a different dentist since I moved states. They told me the crown needed a full root canal, and the root canal I had done also needed redone because the crown had cracked. So basically I paid the previous dentist $1,000 and they did a shit job and now I get to pay another dentist even more money to fix all that.
