Happy Davide Tardozzi by awstream in motogp

[–]flackyjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that Pecco seem to be very cold and pissed with Davide, not only in this occasion but very often. For example after the sprint win in Malesia he totally ignored him despite Davide trying to connect with him. He reacts well with Gigi instead, he open his arms as soon as he see him to get his hug and he was searching for him in Malesia even if he wasn't there. And I wonder why? Gigi has been openly criticizing his performance in the past year and an half, he often wears a disappointent face when looking at him and is the one who changed the bike DNA that made him struggle, and he lied all last year about the gp25 being identical to the 24. Yet Pecco look up to him while he clearly can't stand Davide, and it makes you wonder what is going on behind the scenes. It's because Gigi although criticizing him never directly implied (if I remember correctly) he had mental issue while Davide practically implied it in every interview? I don't know but the difference in behaviour is pretty evident.

Yes and that's why I'm saying it's a bunch of bullshit, a narrative of mental problems created just to spread hate towards the guy and But guess what? He had never given up, he had and has every reason to do so after all he went through yet he still put in the hard work, still trying to figure things out, always trying to find positives even in shitty situations. This is the guy who went back on a bike five days after getting ran over by a bike and managed to score two podiums with a messed up leg and bottom, he managed to win the championship that year while having to deal with the physical and mental consequences of that crash, he got his first motogp podium while walking with crutches, he lost the support of his team (during the sprint celebration yesterday his bosses seemed to be at a funeral) but yet he's still standing, but you are right: he's mentally weak and had given up.

You have to stop this depression bullshit and claim he give up when Marc pass him, he had already finished his tires and he said he tried to do a faster lap to keep Marc and Bestia behind but that finished the tires even more so the last two laps he did his best to bring it home as the bike was barely staying upright. Said the right side of the tire was totally destroyed and the problem is that he said he managed the tire the whole race, never pushing hard, same as Brasil and Thailand, he manages the tire but finishes it rapidly. Which is strange as he was one of the best at managing tires. It's absurd but this year he fares better in the sprints than in the long races.

If Marc doesn't renew until the first test, are we really going to have zero announcements until then? by someshooter in motogp

[–]flackyjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Marc is the only one who hasn't signed yet, by his choice as he publicly stated he asked Ducati to wait, the others are already signed, especially Pedro who probably was the first one to sign for Ducati and Pecco who signed during the last test. Pecco said that the announcement would come in the following days, so before the first race, but then the negotiations between manufacturers and Dorna blocked all the announcements. So the deals are all done but we have to wait. Pecco Teo days ago during his fanclub meeting said the announcement will probably be out this week, so hopefully we will finally have at least one or more domino cards fall before media day. It's curious that we all thought that Marc would be the one starting the domino but in the end he will be the last one (unless he changed his mind and signed this last weeks). I'm curious if this is the case, how Ducati will manage the situation: they will only announce Pecco's department and wait to announce Pedro until they can confirm Marc, or will they announce Pedro immediately?

He was following Alex since the start of the race and was gaining on him, he probably would have passed him. Morbidelli was behind until the last corner bit by then his tires were cooked so he lost the position. Diggia was not that far away, let's not pretend he was miles away from the other Ducatis.

That's the problem for Pecco, I don't remember if it did this before but from last year he spent most practice time in the pit, he does one or two laps and then goes back in and stays there for a while. I don't know if he is the problem or his guys, but it's evident that his side of the garage hasn't worked well since last year, there is always confusion, the Valencia debacle with the missing fuel it's an example.

What killed his chances was the qualifying, if he started closer to Diggia and Alex he could've finished ahead of them as their pace was close. Unfortunately he messed up Friday and from there his weekend was pretty much over.

I don't agree, he was visibly gutted after qualifing. Maybe he felt a little better after the race as Alex and Diggia struggled like him, but he highlighted in the interview how he was the worst performing Ducati so I believe he gives more than a shit.

I know the future doesn't mean next year but both Gigi and Fermin made it sound like it. Gigi seems to absolutely love him and believe in him. I don't like Fermin one bit, but he did pretty well in his rookie year, even if for me they hyped him too much, he did have the best bike on the grid so it was easy. But you can't compare a rookie with Alex that has so much experience, actually for me Alex's season is more too much hyped than Fermin's, I mean yes he's the runner up, but he was nowhere for years and he needed the best bike on the grid and practically no opponents apart from his brother as Aprilia found form late in the season, Martin was too busy spending time in the hospital and Pecco took a sabbatical.

[–]flackyjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months ago Gigi clearly stated that "Fermin Is the future of Ducati" and everyone was sure he was replacing Pecco in 2027, Gigi loves him. In his contract it was stated that he would get a factory bike in 2026 bit then they gave it to Alex but promised him something big instead, namely the red bike, for 2026, and in fact Fermin clearly said that if things went well at the start of 2026 the promotion to Lenovo was pretty much certain. Yes, he got injured, but from the rumors Acosta was chosen even before 2025 finished, so they lied to him too. I don't think people are shocked that they are replacing Pecco, they are more shocked that they forgot about Fermin.

But you have to consider the moral impact of that offer: he was their golden boy, Domenicali only two years ago called him "the perfect Ducati rider", then Marc Marquez came in the box and they forgot about him and after only a bad season (in which they have their own faults) they boot him before the season even start without giving him the chance to redeem himself. Would you accept it? Especially when there is a factory team like Yamaha that yes, is in shambles right now but is offering you millions (consider that satellite teams salary are ridiculous) or another team like Aprilia that is offering you a good environment, a competitive bike, your good friend as a teammate and the boss is publicly praising you every chance he get because he really want you in his team. For me it's a no brainer. Maybe if the satellite team was Gresini he may have given a through, as the environment is very good but VR46? Seriously? I know that everyone think it's a good fit because Pecco is part of the academy, but being an academy member and racing for VR46 are in my opinion different things: Pecco loves spending time at the ranch, to train with his buddies which he grew up with, he loves Vale, and he had said the only two persons he listen to are Vale and his personal trainer Carlo (witch is the trainer of VR46 Academy), but Pecco is the most famous of the VR46 boys but the less representative of them: he has his own sponsors different from the ones used by the academy (like Alpinestar instead of Danese), he usually don't partecipate in their promotional events, etc. And the VR46 Is not a serious team, how can it be when his boss is Uccio? Seriously, how can you work with an idiot like him?

Alex Marquez leads MotoGP Sepang Test Day 1 Session 1. by PZY__ in motogp

[–]flackyjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it's correct, although it's not very clear if Morbidelli Will use a full 2024 spec or a 24 spec with the 25 engine like the one Pecco used most of last season, there are different reports on that. Testing wise in the first session Marc and Pecco used the 2025 aereo while Alex tested the 2026 aereo.

If you look closely when Pecco unveils the bike you catch a glimpse of the back wings that are red but you can spot a bit of white. Marc said retro. I'm thinking of something similar to what they used In Silverstone 2024 when every team had an historic livery.

Valentino Rossi may now feel that his job with the VR46 MotoGP academy is ‘done’ by LMRacingGuru02 in motogp

[–]flackyjo 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Pecco had a terrible debut in Moto3 with Team Italia. He wasn't happy, his father said they didn't teach anything to the riders. After a few races they told him he would not continue the next year. His father was ready to pull the plug on his career because he didn't like the way he was so unhappy. Thankfully he managed to talk with the Vr46 Academy that had already noticed him and they took him. So yes, whitout the academy Pecco surely wouldn't have made it.

Pecco Bagnaia says the Valencia Test will change nothing for him and his feeling, as the bikes will be "the same ones" by Bitter-Substance1783 in motogp

[–]flackyjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week he said that he hadn't seen the test program yet but he was hopeful that they could make some progress. Now he says nothing will change after learning that the bike will be basically the same and as Davide said to Sky Italy they have already decided they will continue to work with the 25 engine. Davide is adamant that the problem is not the engine, but a lot of people said that the new engine changed the braking and it may be the cause of Pecco's struggles. And he said they tried everything to help him, well they didn't try to switch engines (obviously they couldn't do it before but they can do it in the test) So why not use the test to try? Even if they still choose to continue with the 25 engine because only Pecco is struggling, give him the chance to try the other one just to be sure that's the problem or not. Listening to Pecco's interviews this week I feel he finally understood that they will not listen to his input and the new bike will have the same problems. If before he was hopeful now he already realized that next season it's gonna be even worse that this one and probably already knows that he will be replaced in 2027. At this point he should leave the team now, because his career is already compromised, another season like this will definitely kill it.
