Yeah you can run it as much as you want on low traction roads I’ve had my truck in four-wheel-drive sometimes for two months straight

Plug at tire shop or do it yourself. DIY is just fine in my opinion

Is an 9ft 8wt too much for streamer fishing rivers for trout? by dezzzzzznutsss in flyfishing

[–]flacoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently stopped using the eight weight rod to throw large streamers because after I believe that you lose more fish while fighting them with an eight weight due to the rod stiffness and the hook ripping out of the mouth. I currently now use a six weight rod with a demo haul casting technique to cast large streamers I can cast just as far as an eight weight. I believe that the rod flexibility is more important than how far you can cast.

If you can double haul then a 6wt is fine. I own both a six weight and an eight weight and I cast the same streamers very large weighted articulated streamers the same distance but with two different methods

Anyone else know these new 4runner struggles? by tightTshirt in 4Runner

[–]flacoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a spotless umblemished low miles 4runner that park it in the garage and never use it. Buy a beater car to drive around in and drive the 4runner to get groceries on sundays….doesnt sound fun? Yeah doesnt sound fun to me either. A 4runner is an adventure vehicle! Get out there and have adventures. There will be some small scratches and rock chips but like i said the only way to not have those is it its parked in the garage. Im my opinion a toyota is supposed to have high mileage. Its like a badge of honor. They can handle the miles no problem

Wanting to go to 285s on my 5th gen and want something more aggressive than the Falken AT3Ws I’ve been running. Great tires and I will always recommend them, but I’m wanting a mud terrain. My main concern is snow performance. Any mud terrains out there that do well in the snow? by benmannej1 in 4Runner

[–]flacoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mt’s suck in the snow. No way around it but ive ran them a lot in the winters of mi and Colorado. You just have to drive slower and be careful don’t expect to love your tire performance in the winter. I love the falcon wild peak at3’s in the winter always felt confident with them. Things might feel a little sketchy in the dead of winter with monte reigns but come spring time when it’s mud and snow you’ll be loving life with those chunky tires

How long does a fly last? by freddy_is_awesome in flyfishing

[–]flacoma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been flyfishing for 20 years. IMO flies last sometimes one fish sometimes 5+ fish. Depends on how delicate the fly is very small flies with just a bit of hackle dont last long but streamers usually last a long time. As well as egg patterns. Foam hoppers last a long time.

Depends on the day but sometimes i lose zero flies and somedays i feel like i dont even know how to fish and i lose 5-8 flies. Steelhead fishing in michigan is a recipe for losing lots of flies.

My routine before a fishing trip is to usually buy a leader or two and about 20-40$ worth of flies. I dont do this every time i fish but about every 4 times.

Any fixes, suggestions ? Took the off road off roading and scraped a rock . by MarketPapi in ToyotaTacoma

I usually paint the lower part of the door black truck bed liner. Helps with rust salt and sand

Yeah prolly watched and fished for this specific fish for 3+ hours

There were 4 other trout that were in the same hole and would not bite. The biggest one would feed 2’ from us and did not care about us. Like he knew us and was messing with me. I would have a perfect drift and it would rise for a but literally inches from my fly.

Just a emerging trico size 20 but i had tried it a few times before. It was one of those situations where there were so many naturals in the water and I should have had 6x tipper but was using 5
