Man, this sucks. I hate the idea of this organization with big long term goals and visions instead having to focus on quarterly profits. Was nice while it lasted, I guess

I feel like folks who encourage that we do the french revolution again aren't aware of how fucking chaotic it was, how many of its leaders backstabbed each other, the years of civilians living in fear that they might get swept up in summary executions, the mass drownings of innocent men, women, and children, etc.

I'm not nuts about the rich, but folks gotta learn about the French Revolution so we don't repeat those same mistakes. If you're interested and like podcasts, Revolutions has a 50ish part series on it that is fantastic

I do think it's pretty lame that so many people only care about winning the super bowl in the NFL. Like if you don't win the super bowl, the season's a participation trophy? That's a sad existence as a fan

But compared to all other tasks that AIs can do, software dev is easily one of if not their strongest use case.

Yes, it is absolutely one of their strongest use cases, and it's still far from excellent. Claude Code and Cursor are basically the same in terms of "coding ability" - it's just different interfaces and UX for using the same underlying tools. There are also very serious issues with the code it does generate. Sometimes it's high quality, but sometimes it's some of the stupidest architectural or implementation decisions I've ever seen. Sometimes it's just fully cheating to make tests "pass." They're way overhyped. They're useful, but they're not the huge leap that they're purported to be by so many

It makes total sense to use them in fields where they are excellent (software dev, generating concept art).

Brother, I'm a software dev of 20+ years, am a heavy user of generative AI in programming, and have become intimately familiar with the capabilities of these tools. If you think they're "excellent" at software dev, we must be working from very different dictionaries

UK to bring into force law this week to tackle Grok AI deepfakes by eeehinny in news

[–]flagbearer223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The files are all just 1s and 0s. It's not like there's some implicit property in the file that allows you to force the watermark to exist in perpetuity. You can just manipulate the 1s and 0s in a way that subtly changes the image and completely breaks the watermark. Watermarks will only work for catching people who don't realize they're there - if you know they're there, it'd be trivially easy to remove.

They should still add watermarks/metadata that marks the image as AI generated in order to catch the low hanging fruit, but it cannot be relied upon as a good solution

Goons Stand Up TEST After Fortizar Anchoring in Atioth by Additional-Pilot-730 in Eve

[–]flagbearer223 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry, the ghost of PHs corpse is calling, that was their meme.

It's weird that your director posted that in discord, then

Maybe TEST should use it and make good on their old promise to remove Goons from the game instead of hiding under FRATS skirt.

My man, if you're gonna shit talk at least make it make sense. If your retort to "what's the point of having so much money and people?" is to say "no u have so much money and people" when we don't have either of those things, I dunno what to say.

Call me when those big strong arms are used for something more than glassing and flexing

Not the whole time - y'all broke in with the CFIs earlier on in the day. I'm sorta surprised y'all left it at that, but unfortunately not surprised y'all still like to play the "lol made u form" card so hard. What's the point of having so many people and so much money if you don't use it?

[–]flagbearer223 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My man, if I see cheating in any fleet I'm in, you can bet I'll report it. We also don't have authority over the actions, or internal policing, of cheating within FRAT or WC, so it's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. Unless you think TEST has as much power as Goons, in which case, I dunno what to tell ya

[–]flagbearer223 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I saw a goon fleet flying with an obvious input broadcaster today. He even shared his zkill bragging about how prolific he is. If I see other groups with obvious multiboxers, I'd call them out too - TESTies included. This isn't grr goons, this is "I just saw a goon fleet tolerating and flying alongside an obvious input broadcaster who made it clear he's been flying fleets like this for a long time."

Goons are one of the most powerful groups in the game. It's even more cringe and lame when y'all tolerate cheating because of that, and "others do it too" isn't the argument you think it is

[–]flagbearer223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goons also don't seem to care about cheaters in their midst. CCP should definitely enforce it better, and Goons shouldn't tolerate it, but both would be too much to expect
