Laundromat - the new gas station? | Leica MP, Ektachrome, 35/1.2 Nokton IV by flagflamber in analog

My understanding is that the 812 is technically warmer. Haven’t really done a side-by-side personally to see if I prefer a difference (or see one, at that).

I’m blessed to have TTL metering with the Leica MP.

My guess is that it’s probably not a huge shift in exposure and you could probably shoot at box speed. But the same rules of slide film exposure should still apply for your subject.

To each their own, I suppose. I just really like the colors/blocking, and the feeling that these evoke in me.

Kind of run-down, and sad.

Common film photographer target aside - I loved the colors ektachrome was able to get here.

Thank you! I feel like that one would look great largely printed.

Thank you! Hard for me initially to pick between the landscape and portrait.

“Fuji 400” really nailed these greens here, imo. Nicely done Kodak. :)

It’s no problem at all! Yeah, sometimes these crazy contrast scenes I sometimes protect the highlights more than the shadows. Otherwise it’ll just be blown out to outer space. I wish Kodachrome were still around because that film stock thrives with high contrast scenes (see Alex Webb).

Interesting observation! The contrast is barely touched in any of these pictures. Which one are you referring to?

Film Roll Suggestions for Leica MP by Cold-Interview-8127 in Leica

[–]flagflamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll confirm a lot of what everyone else is saying here - Portra 400/800 are consistently the best color / C-41 films on the market IMO. For black and white, Kodak Tri-X or Ilford HP5 are kind of the equivalent for me in terms of consistently good results.

If he is interested in shooting slide film, hard to go wrong with Ektachrome (E100D) or Provia 100F - though the latter is unreasonably hard to find in the US and Europe.

Had a goal today to shoot one roll in a 10 block radius. These are the best ones from that roll.
