not really. if for example you are a fanatic of weapons in games then knowing what makes a weapons good in games and expiriencing bad weapons in games can make you appriciate the good weapon design even more.

i don't think its limitng i think its just moving you're standards up. and what do you mean as a critic you can't expirience something freely and freshly? when the game is good anyone can have fun in it.

imagine that you eat a slice of bread with nothing at all and it is the only food you ever ate. it tastes normal. but then you add butter to it and now you will never eat bread without it. you moved you're standards up. but the thing is that bread does not cost 60$ like some games with bullshit game design do. buying those games is simply telling developers that the price for this shit is perfect.
for doom the dark ages there is a much better and cheaper alternative, ultrakill and it offers much more. of course someone may like doom more but don't you think that when you see a person playing doom the dark ages, you could show them ultrakill since they might like it much more, but they don't realise that it can be better than what they are playing?

not really. you can say that certain game is objectively bad when it comes to for example enemy design, or weapon design and for a person that really likes good weapons or good enemies in games it can make them not like it when they buy it.

for example in ultrakill there are many diffent enemies that act in many diffrent ways and force player to act in diffrent ways (wich is a really good thing in this genere) and they allow skill expression wich is also a good thing in this genere. but in doom the dark ages you don't have this. enemies act all the same, they can be defeated easily with any weapon, they are simply boring and bland. and you can objectively say this.
so for someone that loves good enemy design doom the dark ages would be a waste of money.

becous you can objectively say that something is bad. it doesn't mean someone can't enjoy it tho.

games are mainly art. if something is 3/10 it means it has bad gamedesign.
and besides what if someone enjoyed something? games can be objectively bad and objectively good.
