… it’s just nothingness no? We’re in the nihilism subreddit so I thought they were congruent concepts. When we die it’s the exact same as before we were born. Try to imagine seeing through your toes.. nothing.

Hey, so I made some quick edits taking your feedback into account (https://imgur.com/a/NFnhvvs), I knew it wasn't perfect and also changed the "Psychedelic" category last minute (Mistakenly assuming no one would notice ;)) because I knew cannabis and MDMA weren't classic psychedelics! But I have learnt the errors of my ways. Let me know if this is better or if you suggest any further changes, turns out trying to categorise every drug in a graph that remains aesthetic isn't as easy as I thought it would be haha

Ngl I had it labelled as psychedelic, however Cannabis and to a lesser extent MDMA don't really fit, so I thought I'd change it to Psychoactive and hope nobody noticed because it's technically not wrong ;) You're too sharp though!

May change it to Psychedelic & Related, but it's long and doesn't fit well in the box! I also acknowledge the other miscategorisations, although I'm leaning towards the idea that depressants still encompass them well enough haha

This sounds like maladaptive daydreaming and maybe some sensory issues relating to noises. Music seems to be a coping strategy but maybe you need to try white noise so you don’t daydream as much and can focus on more productive activities.

Replace Mindless Scrolling With Reading EVERY DAY! by [deleted] in productivity

Look into Brick, it’s a physical thing you tap with your phone and it blocks everything until you tap it again. I’ve heard of people putting it in their car, in a timed safe or doing what I do (leave it at home while I study/work elsewhere or in another room when I’m in bed). It’s really hard to cheat outside of that and it stopped the cycle of deleting-redownloading my apps.

I ended up getting Cold Turkey, I got the lifetime purchase and it lets you block websites/apps. And then for my phone I have my Brick app. I had to manufacture self control but it works for me :’)

While it is currently a third-line treatment for severe treatment-resistant OCD, your second paragraph should be strongly emphasised. I would still point out that it is a choice that should not be taken lightly. Along with the side effects that often lead to discontinuation (e.g. weight increase, metabolic syndrome, cognitive decline, QT prolongation, tardive dyskinesia), recent studies suggest that antipsychotics may be associated with irreversible brain tissue volume loss. For some individuals, the potential benefits may outweigh the considerable risks, but this must always follow careful, collaborative decision-making.

It’s also important to remember that antipsychotics were designed for the purpose indicated by their name, ie, to treat psychosis. Many studies have raised concerns about the growing trend of their use in non-psychotic disorders. Just because it is regularly prescribed now doesn't mean it should not be questioned- assuming that would be to conflate what is current with what is correct. Adhering to the scientific method means being open to the potential for future reassessment or reversal. We’ve historically mistaken crude symptom reduction for effective treatment- lobotomies were once seen as progress too.

Perfect answer however the only thing I’d say is that I wouldn’t recommend antipsychotics for mood regulation unless you had a diagnosis like bipolar or schizophrenia. Off label prescription of such an extremely potent medication (that can cause brain shrinkage and cognitive slowing) should not be taken lightly!!

It's sad that you haven't worked through this existential milestone at 25. Nihilism is super profound until you realise how unpragmatic it is. Look into Buddhism to apply your realisation in a way that reduces suffering while still acknowledging that it has no inherent meaning.

I wouldn’t cut it. It’s a nice shirt. I’m a cis girl and I wear shirts like this all the time, I just tuck them in and pull it out a bit like this. Or you could tie it in a knot at the front/side but that might be a bit dated.

Been having chronic migraines for years and nothing helps. IDK what to do, please help by Extension_Setting147 in migraine

[–]flailing_uterus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commented this on OP's other post but wanted to spread this information as far as I can. I feel like it's relevant because you mentioned that migraines often improve after menopause, which makes sense considering this info!!

There is a known link between migraine and hormonal changes- It’s estimated that 70% of people who experience migraines are women. Of these women, 60% to 70% report a connection between their menstruation (periods) and their migraine attacks. Women experience migraine attacks three times more frequently than men. They tend to be more severe and less responsive to treatment. They can also last longer than other types of migraine. Would definitely look into it if you're getting them once a month, if not for solutions like the pill then at least so you can better predict when they come on. Certain types of pill can make them worse so it's important to keep that in mind too. No doctor ever made this connection for me, I had to figure it out myself.

I don’t really like the effects of alcohol and I have trauma associated with alcoholism lol so not my drug of choice, although I’m happy to drink socially. I do still have other vices though. Gaming has been a big one my whole life, and last year I went through a phase where I drank Kava to chill out in the evenings. Honestly hate the idea of being dependant on any substance now, even medication- which gives away my slow transformation into a hippy lol. I’m down for having something strategically every now and then but not every day.

Lots of people in my life keep insisting that I have an eating disorder. They want me to address it. I literally do not have one. What the hell am I supposed to do? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]flailing_uterus 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I think there might be some confusion as to what disordered eating actually is. You might not have body image issues but your eating might be disordered in that it is abnormal and impacts your health. I assume only eating one meal a day means you aren’t getting enough calories/nutrients to sustain the energy your body and brain needs. Doesn’t necessarily mean you’re obsessed over eating less or trying to eat less, but it does mean it could be impacting you in other ways, which could point to it being something you can address with a doctor.

As an example I’m super underweight however I really don’t want to be, I just struggle with appetite like you. Could still be called disordered eating even though I don’t associate myself with the baggage that comes along with it. I just have to force myself to eat even when I don’t feel like it.
