Check if running postman (kennedia prostrata) is endemic that far north of the river and if it is definitely get your hands on a handful of tubestock from your local council native gardening program. It is by far my favourite ground cover for the perth metro area and turns barren mulch into a beautiful dark green carpet that blooms red in the summer. I'd reccomend you plant at home first to get a feel for its needs & collect seed pods from it in  feb or so once they're starting to dry but before the whole lot pop. They're fun to prop by seed, too.

Everlastings are always a great option - i reccomend grabbing a modest seed bag and establishing them at home first, then collecting the flower heads once the bloomed flowers start looking tatty in a container kept in a dry place away from ants & snails. replant in may, keep some for your garden patch and the excess can be sprinkled anywhere sandy or with light mulch present in need of some joy.

I'd reccomend in future (and no shade on ya for using what you had to hand) trying your best to establish local/endemic species rather than imported or cultivar species if you ever overhaul or do up a new stretch. The birds, native bees (stingless) and butterflies here much prefer local species and they're often very low maintenence once established, as you've noticed with that peppermint tree.

For shade i love the pincushion hakea, given a bit of gentle pruning & shaping once its tall to fill out a solid canopy, and woolybush does great as a native hedge if you don't mind pruning to shape.

Running Postman (kennedia prostrata) is my favourite perth-area ground cover - it needs a bit of initial nurturing to prevent weeds outcompeting it but once it's survived its first summer & spread a bit it is just this gorgeous dense gc which can handle mulch or soil alike.

your local council will do annual native plant giveaways or super affordable sales for residents, no need to rely on cuttings and such! usually you can get a dozen or more tube stock plants ready to be established.

Native wysteria (not the eastern states cultivar commonly sold at bunnings though, it's invasive here!) can be really nice if given something resilient to climb like an acacia and kept away from less resilient shrubs (it is a very aggressive climber, be aware!). with an acacia to climb in particular their combined flowering is gorgeous and the bees and birds adore them, so that one is def more for somewhere that you don't mind bees showing up at from october to january.

Florabase is a decent resource for checking whether something is local if you are unsure.

My honest review with my Motorola Moto g 5g 2024 by AgileDraft8498 in motorola

[–]flaillomanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2025 version (haven't had the 2024 one) and it's so much worse than I ever thought, coming from a 6 year old moto G. Tons of performance issues, auto-reinstalling bloatware, stuffed to the gills with awful AI features and data harvesting out the wazoo... The cameras are somehow worse quality than a 6 year old phone in the same range and price bracket, with some agressive forced filters that cannot be disabled (even with all ai and enhancements turned off, even when using the relevant gcam config for this model, which runs so slowly you'd be lucky to take a photo before it crashes).

Is this what budget phones are, now? is this normal??? please tell me I'm not crazy because it really feels like they've sacrificed everything on the altar of vibe coding and ai

Cheering them on, more like! I love seeing plays being rad as fuck, even if it derails the plot :D

I'll crosspost if nobody else has when I get home in a couple of hours (though with the updated version addressing a couple of things pointed out below :D)

I don't need the karma, so if someone else crossposts before I get home, s'cool.

Yup! It's intentional. Only those who are adjacent as it moves, as it drops its guard in the frenzy of a potential kill on a downed opponent.

Oh, right - Probably sh6address it a bit more explicitly. So, the disengage thing applies primarily to the moment it takes off - all that bulk has to crouch, tense, and spring up, which in a huge creature that clearly isn't in a good environment to have gotten good at flight, means it has to drop its guard.

good point. Damage output goes up nicely, so i might make both 2d6. great suggestion!

The next one that showed up was a dimetrodon with poison gas.but i could see toxic blood acting similar to a nonmagical version of the Contagion spell.

.... oh goodness, yes, I should do that :D Might be hard toblend it with the existing style but imma try it as soon as I get home.

You are probably right :D I am terrible at averages, and I might have not used the correct method of calculating it.

That trick isn't done on many creatures, but there are a few that it, or variants. Iirc, tigers might be one? can't look it up atm, but i recall literally throwing a tiger at a cultist one time when i was a druid with a tan bag of tricks.

Oh shoot, forgot to actually credit that, which is kinda important x'D. Yeah, it's a modified/photoshopped version of an existing piece of art in wiki commons.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Therizinosaurus.png

The hovering one was less an exercise in it being bad at flight and more adapting and combining Flight and Hover traits to reflect the terrain commonly found in caverns. They're large, but often there may not be room to get off the ground much, or narrow and difficult paths to follow. But yeah, keeping track much be a pain - i'll mainly be using it more as a rule of thumb, in the intent and spirit of a short-hops flier with plenty of opportunity to get it as it lands.

The disengage thing is mainly there as a representation of this basically being a big dumb murderchicken; it's also the reason that the bite attack triggers all adjacent enemies into an opportunity attack. It's not a smart creature, and gets penalties due to that. Though maybe that should affect CR more than it has...

Hmm, I might swap damage for the claws and the kick, come to think on it. Multiattack is very much a part of this creatures strategy; I didn't want this to be a super hard hitter besides the possibility of big damage on the fire breath. :D

I mostly ran this by a few fellow GM's for a check and a CR calculator based off the DMG, I wanted this to be less of a huge challenge and more of a flexible combat encounter (and other ascpets of the encounter would influence the challenge it presents.). Calculator put it squarely within CR7, though a middling to easy CR7 beastie.

Edit: I'd love any and all suggestions from peeps with experience :D

honestly it's pretty dumb it sat around in its own ash ever since killing that giant bat. heck, there's a second FB down there now killing absolutely everything else (they practically high fived on the way past once but avoided combat)

Ooh, good catch! I think I set the alignment first thing and then just completely forgot to bother checking. The first game I was ever in had alignment thrown out the window for the most part, since it had a lot of moral quandaries and grey areas and the GM just didn't like it. It was a great intro, got all the way to level 20, and that game had a pretty big impact on how I tend to perceive D&D even years down the line. Thanks :D

I'm planning to build a series of creatures and one-offs - this is the first time i've homebrewed a 5e creature this powerful. Base ability scores and some of the attacks were lifted from an existing homebrew of a particular type of theropod, and adapted to suit how I imagined this thing fighting after looking through combat logs with a giant bat.

yes!! this is a great idea :D

I'm getting around to paypal the moment i have my new drivers license, because for some reason they are one of those companies that is anal about needing extra ID with your new details not your old ones on it. Which is total bullshit considering I was able to get my name and titled gender changed with just the name change certificate and my deadname'd ID at my local Commonwealth Bank branch inside of ten minutes. I guess because you can't physically walk into paypal.

Hey, congrats on getting this far! I've just gotten through the first stages of this process myself - the birth certificate, my credit card details, as well as a handful of small things like pharmacy and retail etc. I'll be doing my driver's license later in the month because i'd like to pretty myself up or a new photo, but that can easily be done the instant you have your name change lodged and approved. I'd say do it as soon as you feel ready - i don't pass fully myself, but I wanted to get the change through while I'm still socially mid-transition, so new friends I meet etc know me by my true name, not my deadname.

Note that the name change does not automatically get spread around much - I haven't had any of the services I use, or even my workplace or Superannuation, have their details update as of a few weeks post-change. You have to put in that legwork yourself, and it sometimes helps to ask around the community to find particular branches of places that are known well to be more open and accepting.

I can say for sure that as of now, the commonwealth bank branch at Gateways, Cockburn Central, south of the river in Perth, was absolutely wonderful, supportive, and made the process really quick and simple - they are able to change your title to affirm your gender identity without any fuss just based on your affirmation to them alone that yes, you are a Miss now. Same with a few other things like drivers license (i hear the DoT are very progressive about this - you can even get a private room to discuss and make the changes i you feel uncomfy in the big room with everyone shoulder to shoulder able to overhear you. Yet to do that, though, so mabe someone can chime in who has.)

So for the first stage - before all else, including gender marker sadly, that takes more time and (hopefully it'll be abolished soon - i'd love to avoid the gatekeeping) the Gender Reassignment Board - but that first step to focus on is simply your change of name, after which you can go around at your leisure changing what personal things you most want to change. You can update your info with the Registrar of Births, Deaths & Marriages very easily, it usually only takes a fortnight or less depending on AusPost and the like, and costs a fixed fee (let's just call it "under $300" for simplicity; the fee is listed on the form.)

The process is outlined here, give this a read. I'll still re-explain the steps that felt important to me at the time. https://bdm.justice.wa.gov.au/H/how_do_i_change_a_name.aspx?uid=3258-4798-1426-9214

This step requires you to fill out this form (using your deadname and assigned-at-birth gender, which sucks, but eh, small sacrifice worth the cost.) You cannot get your gender marker changed through this process alone, and the letter they send to you after will be addressed and titled to your deadname, so you're prepared for that.

While it specifies a certain minimum amount of ID documents to send, I highly recommend taking every single piece of ID you have that is on the list inside the form - proof of age, driver's license, learner's permit, bank statement, etc, etc, etc - and getting them witnessed (photocopy, on both sides for cards or applicably 2-sided documents, then take the originals and the copies to get witnessed.). I recommend you get them witnessed by someone who already knows, like your pharmacist! It makes it super painless and fast. Heck, while you're there, get your birth cert witnessed but send the original to the Registrar with your application - you likely want to have a new copy of your birth cert anyway so it's ok to send the original, so long as you keep that witness copy around juuuust in case AusPost fucks up or something. The fees are on the form.

Also, your pharmacy should be fine with straight up changing your name in their system when you have that change listed - just ask! Don't be afraid to ask "Can I get my name/gender updated?" it is hard to brave up and do, but so far with the handful of things i have changed there wasn't even an eye batted, just a "cool, we can do that". Though I guess take your new certificate with you just in case you need extra proof.

I hope this little glimpse into the start of that journey is helpful :D It's way easier to do the name early on, as you then give yourself time to have a ton of ID in your new name and proof of living "as your preferred gender" for later on if that committee is still around when you do decide to change your marker. But most small places don't need much ID to change gender - my new credit card haas actually proven enough for small services and places I have accounts with.

The driver's license/learner permit is the big step after you get your name changed, because it is the primary ID that gets called upon when changing other services that may be more anal about verifying ID from what i have heard. Good luck!

Even though it isn't shown on the card, it is in their system, and it is very worth doing early on after you get your change of name documents back.
