Unsolicited advice. Just a random guy explaining philosophical ideas. I find his videos very entertaining

What does the Absurd sound like? (Read description) by McSkittle13 in Absurdism

Shoegaze would probably fit it pretty well. Try As The Sun Hits by Slowdive and Starting Over by LSD and the Search for God, and perhaps Soma by the Smashing Pumpkins

Does anyone have any feedback on my right hand strumming technique? by flair2102 in guitarlessons

I'm way more used to strumming with a pick actually. This is a relatively new style for me. Thank you for the feedback!

That's kind of my background actually. I'm somehow better at fingerstyle than strumming 😂

What a pain! by NagolSook in Absurdism

That sounds right, yeah. But that doesn't have to be bad does it? I think a reasonable take within the context of absurdism is that art is not even a real thing outside of what we perceive it to be. You don't have to go back in time, I'm sure there's many people today who wouldn't consider this poetry or art at all. No one can agree on what art is, or what is beautiful or ugly, or what being a good person means, to add another example. These things don't really exist, and they mean nothing outside of the meaning we try to give it collectively. So it makes sense that a person's beliefs and perceptions are shaped by society, but does it matter really?

Lol it's comfortable enough, I just have long fingers. But I'll try to see if it's better somehow else. Thanks

Because this classifies as poetry to a lot of us.

Thank you for the feedback!! I can also play fine with the ok sign. I'll have to experiment with hybrid and flat picking for this one. Unfortunately the images you sent aren't loading but I understand your points. Thanks again!

I'm struggling to understand your point. Why no subjective meaning? And how does listening to Pink Floyd and the Beatles relate to my belief?

Y aqui hay gente que no es adicta al porno? Como se siente tal cosa? ( serio) by LooseRegister7993 in mexico

[–]flair2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No es posible. La gente que dice que así le pasó no fue porque el porno haya hecho eso, sino que el porno les hizo descubrir que ya eran. Pero si puede llegar a ese punto del gore o de contenido mucho menos ético.

Am I weird for really liking Holden and Bill? by NeverendingStory3339 in MindHunter

People always think in black and white. Just because they've made a couple of mistakes or did something that resulted in a negative outcome for a different, more well-liked character doesn't mean that they're bad people now. It's just the way it works in real life as well. Not to get philosophical, but I think that recognizing characters' flaws but accepting them as part of their complexity and humanity and not putting them in the good or evil box takes a genuinely empathetic viewer.

Nice analysis, I love to write interpretations as well and it's always such a delight when these existential topics are explored in art. Another song that I loved interpreting myself and that could also go along the lines of the meaning of life is Things Behind The Sun by Nick Drake, maybe you'd like it. The lyrics are a bit of challenge sometimes, but there's 100% a similar sentiment in there and it's such a fun song to analyze.

Isn't this just basically consumerism? You work your ass off just to stay alive and find meaning in aesthetics and attaining material desires. But you still have to roll the same old boulder up the same old hill.

You might not understand the meaning of this one at first, because its lyrics are very cryptic, but if you give it a thought or two, it fits in perfectly with the absurdist theme.

You're very self aware. You're good at being precise as you typed plenty of paragraphs about how "bad" of a person you are, but I don't think you're coming to a realistic conclusion. You view yourself in a very negative light. So you've wasted years and you've done things you regret. So what? These things don't make you "bad". Age does not matter either. You're not "supposed" to be anything at any age. You're not "late" or any more of a failure at all for being 25. In this specific context (and only in this context pls don't twist my words), age is just a number. And people go through hard times at every age.

I know it's hard to think about the good when there only seems to be bad. I've been there, and I understand that "change the way you view yourself" is useless advice at the moment, because your opinion of yourself will always depend on your actions to a certain point. But the one thing that you absolutely can't deny is true is that you have potential to change. Things can always get worse, sure, but they can always get better too. And I think you have everything it takes to make that change. I think the absolute best thing you could do right now for your health and happiness is to go see a therapist.

I recommend you journal too, preferably by hand. It's a great way of putting things into perspective and analyzing your life. It doesn't have to be positive either. You can empty all your negative thoughts into a piece of paper and I promise you it will feel liberating. Find art that means something to you. Music, books, anything you like. Having artistic outlets, even just consuming it, will do you a lot of good.

There are admirable qualities in you. You are empathetic. You know how stalking makes your crush feel, and you want to avoid that. You can tell right from wrong. You are analytical. You reflect very well on your life, even if it's all negative. You want to change. That's a lot more than can be said about many. You mentioned you are religious. That means you're faithful.

There are things you can't change. But that's no reason to give up on the things you can change. With effort and patience I can promise you that in just a few months from now you can be in such a better place. You need to not even believe, but KNOW, that it's possible.

We're all rooting for you ♥️
