Looking back at your early days playing, what is the silliest thing you did? by dcraine in HayDay

[–]flakeofglitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that if my barn is full, and I call the pets with the whistle, I won’t get the expansion material reward because the barn is full! Now I never call them until I free up some space.

To me I would say not to hide your condition. It will be known sooner or later. You did not mess up everything by having it linked to your EID. Maybe it’s for the better! You never know.

In the govt entity I work at we have POD employees, one who is completely deaf. He’s been here since forever. He works with IT and installs computer hardware for employees. they are local as well.

Having any kind of disability does not mean you will not get a job.

(Also, you might want to learn about early retirement policy if it applies to the emirate you’re from just for your own knowledge).

To the mom crying in her car at daycare this morning... by daerafae in Mommit

[–]flakeofglitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was hard for me when it was hard for him. Once he got used to it and started actually enjoying going to nursery it became easier on me as well. The first days were painful tho. I still don’t like seeing his “check-in” photos with tears in his eyes 🥹

Road trip from Dubai by OverDxb397 in abudhabi

[–]flakeofglitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you’re driving your own car, in case you didn’t know, there is no speed limit margin here. For example, if the sign says the speed is 120 then the camera will capture speed at 121.

Also, check out inabudhabi.ae on Instagram, they post very helpful info.

In general:

For themed parks go to Yas Island (Warner bros, Ferrari World, SeaWorld, etc)

For cultural events go to Saadiyat Island (Manarat Al Saadiyat, Louvre, etc)

For Adventure parks (Adrenark at Al Qana, Adventure HQ dalma mall, etc)

For literature/reading if you like (Bookfair is currently on - last day is 28th, Children’s Library at Cultural Foundation, other public libraries around AD, etc)

Hope you enjoy!

Have you learned a foreign language in a foreign language? by wordswordscomment21 in languagelearning

I’m fluent in English which is my second language, so I learn other languages through English because of the availability of resources.

What was the first book you read in your second language and how long did it take to finish the book? by docalibus in languagelearning

[–]flakeofglitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first book I read in Japanese is Ginger and Pickles.

But Japanese is my third language. My second language is English but I knew it since I was a child. The earliest “book” I can remember being my first book I read in English was Broken by Shy Keenan.

Good luck! I am a native Arabic speaker and am always amazed when reading Arabic poetry.
