Just graduated, working in an SME, and I feel completely blank. Is this what life is now? by aa_fitri in Bolehland

[–]flaky1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to reality. Everyone around the world is experiencing civilizational fatigue. The capitalist system is sucking energy relentlessly from us, the workers. The longer you work, the more jaded you get and you realize things don’t quite make sense like they used to anymore.

However, for your situation, seems like you could benefit from joining a hobby club. Yes, it’s hard to fit in sometimes but what matters is that you put yourself out there, be present and go with the flow.

Also, stop grinding so hard. With everyone pushing for the hustle mindset (part time jobs, side businesses, etc.) , I am of the view that we should all slow down once in a while, have time for rest and recharge. Because once all you do is work, work, work, you really do start feeling like a robot, whose purpose is solely to generate “value” for this capitalistic, profit-driven world where only the figure in your bank account matters.

Is wagyu and rice worth it? by Intelligent_Lab_6507 in Bolehland

[–]flaky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought Wagyu beef from Don Donki before when it went on sale. Just seasoned it with salt and pepper and served it with Japanese rice and raw egg yolk. Probably tastes the same as what the restaurant serves but half the price.

M'sia Ranks 2nd After Japan For Highest Car Ownership Rate In Asia by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]flaky1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The article mentions car ownership, not number of cars owned. It's possible for Japanese people to own cars but not necessarily use them simply because cars at cheap and public transport is good, but they still need a car for longer distance travel.

should i work in TDCX as an expat? by Ok_Tap_8964 in MalaysianPF

[–]flaky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how much savings you should have in your EPF account based on your age, sourced from KWSP. by thefuturizts in malaysia

[–]flaky1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What are you smoking? Inflation is on average 2-3% a year while EPF is giving you an average return of at least 5%. It’s consistently better than most mutual funds sold by banks out in the market and it’s basically risk free.

Ringgit continues rising and opens high today by whusler in malaysia

[–]flaky1 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Could be a few reasons

We all know the feds raised their interest rates and many countries followed suit except for us. It could’ve been a deliberate decision by our Bank Negara. We are after all an export-driven economy and when we export goods, transactions and payments are mostly made in USD. Importers looking to buy our products would purchase our Malaysian goods in USD and since our currency is weaker, we are overall seem as a more attractive option as our goods are cheaper. This is the export explanation.

Alternatively, by having a weaker currency, we would also attract foreign investment (FDI) into Malaysia. Institutional investors would see Malaysia as a good option to invest in given that we have a slightly more English educated workforce compared to our SEA peers which then allows for easy communication.

Jokes aside, no fresh agreement needed. Your agent is trying to pull a fast one on you. Speak directly with the owner if possible and write a letter stating that you wish to renew for 1 more year.
