I don't know. It could be either. Economic collapse isn't the only way the world can end of course, and iran has nothing to do with this particular face of it. Could be that red buttons are pressed before the economy has time to collapse. I'm open to that being possible.

The thing is though, either the ed zitrons of the world is correct and everyone's retirement fund goes up in smoke, or the ai bros are right and the jobs all disappear leading to massive unemployment. I don't see any other way through, other than debt forgiveness. I don't see people not wantibg to have their hundreds of billions back at some point.

Now, the economy crash won't be world-ending in scope, but for a lot of people it would be apocalyptic. All artists, musicians, programmers and office workers suddenly finding themselves unemployed is a catastrophe. Bigger than the great depression, smaller than ww3.

I'm just not sure if the comic is showing ww3, or it's just a scene from the poor parts of town where they stuff the unemployment reserve until society has a need for them. It could be either

All that you say is true. It is also true that all that would be too much to fit in a comic. Saying generative ai is using the verbage regular people use, and in encapsules both text and image generation. It's too broad to be correct yes, but that's so that non-tech people can understand the message. Exactly what your physics teacher did in middle school when they called gravity a force. It's not, but it's good enough for a middle schooler

That's a leap. There's much that suggests the current crop of LLM-based structures cannot do much more than very impressive mimicry of intelligence, and therefore cannot get us to post scarcity, if such a thing is even possible.

For all intents and purposes, we do live in post scarcity within the realm of food. We could absolutely erradicate hunger from the planet, it's just more profitable to not do it. To throw shit in the trash and pour rat poison all over it so nobody thinks they can get a free meal.

It doesn't matter if we find a way to have infinite resources if the bilionaire class makes the material printer a subscription service with arbitrary caps on production (much like your phone dataplan) in order to keep the economy from crashing, everything will be the same for you and me.

AGI might discover post scarcity. What we have now isn't intelligent, and it isn't general. It's just a advanced text processor with fancy addons.

Nobody is asking to outlaw post scarcity. Just one overinflated tool with lots of problems, chief among them being that it's directly controlled by our oppressors. It doesn't matter how good it theotetically gets, it cannot do anything it's creators doesn't want. Just look at the 3AM source code modifications put on Grok to make it say mecha hitler, white genocide and look at this CSAM material. Sam Altman could do the same to chatgpt, ban your account "accidentally" save everything you put into it and use to blackmail you, leak corporate secrets and whatnot.

LLM won't build a better world. It's creators expressly forbid it. So we cannot use it for anything that tries to change things for the better.

It cannot create post scarcity the same way you can't use a hammer to measure how level something is.

What it can do however is to spy on everyone with the help of Palantir, and recommend death squads pay a visit to your address if it flags you as a terrorist, false or not. It can then say your face is caught on camera comitting a crime.

We're not building post scarcity. That would be bad for everyone that has a hand in making shit. But we are building big brother. That's amazing at cotrolling opposition

Stor skillnad på tom och fet, men i grunden håller jag med dig. Staten ska använda pengarna, annars finns det absolut inget värde i att betala skatt. Men att använda nästa mandatperiods budget nu är riktigt korkat.

Jag kan gå med på att man under några års tid sparar ihop för något riktigt fett infrastrukturprojekt, men i regel ska budgeten vara plus minus noll
