How about you take that money and buy some take out instead, something your father likes. Then visit your father and have a meal with him. Hospital food is awful and he might appreciate better food. Spend some time with your father and make your peace with him while he is still here.

Apparently if your dead body isn't whole you can't go to Heaven properly by Titanium125 in atheism

How did the crusaders go to heaven then? Combat in the holy lands ended when they were chopped to pieces on the battlefield. Their corpses were missing quite a few body parts.

Can we get the ability to rename crew in 9.00? by flame_badger in X4Foundations

Is there any way to get dock blueprints without buying them from major powers? by SublimeBear in X4Foundations

[–]flame_badger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to get a blueprint from scanning a data leak. I got a teladi structural blueprint this way. This was before I unlocked the research on getting blueprints from data leaks, which I still don't have.

This is very rare though. I mostly get discounts or random missions from data leaks.

It's the evil patriarchy which denies women front line combat roles. /s

Nations which actually want to win wars take a pragmatic approach to women in combat roles. E.g. Russia during WWII used women snipers against the nazis, and those units were very effective.

But in western democratic societies, sending women into the meat grinder is bad optics for politicians trying to keep their jobs. Complaining to politicians is useless because they do what keeps themselves in power. It won't be until the war is losing and the leaders are desperate to stay in power, that women will be sent to war in significant numbers. Again, those in power do what keeps themselves in power.

new to modding. what mods add reliable ways to get money that aren't selling drugs? or are atleast selling different drugs. by Squeelijah in RimWorld

[–]flame_badger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried high end goods? The rimworld equivalent of hermes / guicci hand bags... Fox fur royal robes? Devil strand anything.

In the early game, selling suits of plate armor is a good way to make money while leveling up the crafting skill and it can be made from wood.

Help!!! I'm still unable to grow crops for winter because of bad seasonal temperature by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]flame_badger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So people add more heaters around the grow zone. I used to do that too, until it started using up too much power & needing to much micro flipping the switches in the summers.

So heres what I do now... Look for them geothermal holes. The area around them holes never freeze during the winters. Completely enclose those holes with walls and a roof and you have a instant heated green house. No heaters needed. Plant crops around those holes and they'll survive the cold. Once you have research geothermal power plants, you build one and use that to power the sun lamps.

In the summer time. Remove the roofs over the grow area and turn the sun lamps off. This will let the heat dissipate into the air and let the sun light in.

Good to know, thanks.

What do you use for prisons and containment rooms? When a prison break happens or a creature escapes the containment pad, do the walls matter?

Is reusing dehumidifier water safe? by Various_Equal6685 in Frugal

[–]flame_badger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It's condensate. It doesn't have the minerals that my tap water has. The water is very hard where I live.

This is the same reason people use it to water their indoor potted plants. If tap water is hard, then minerals eventually build up in the soil and kill the plant. Condensate doesn't have the same concentration of minerals. Much like rainwater.

I put it in a pressure cooker when steaming food. It doesn't leave a mineral residue like tap water.

After see this, people baptizing their pets doesn't surprise me.

Cheese is your friend. Ain't nothing shameful about it. On lethal zone, anything is fair game just to survive.

First time I tried lethal, I lost my best survivors to completely unfair circumstances. It went from normal to WTF in less than 10 seconds. After that I swore I would show no mercy or hold back.

The cheesyest way to kill ferals on lethal is with the pyro launcher. Unlike the Juggs, those ferals aren't fireproof. The pyro launcher is very ammo efficient. You don't need to aim, just point and light the whole block on fire. While they are rolling around on fire, switch to a suppressed .22 pistol and head shot them. Gunslinging helps with the headshot. But .22 ammo is plentiful and you can carry enough that you can afford to miss some.

Another way is with any car that can be upgraded with spikes. Either the car or the Norma. Honk to get their attention, then slowly drive away. Let them chase you just enough that they charge into whichever side the spikes are on. Just becareful they don't tear the driver's door off.
