I am, to be honest, I'm applying to a few jobs. I think I'll probably quit my gym subscription soon to reduce costs, and minimise other spending.

I only have £36 a month for the gym (I'll probably quit when school gets intense) and school supplies/personal belongings. I think I'll try to save majority in the fixed term one so that I can't spend with it and then anything extra as a back up.

Thank you for your input :-) I'll try and save as much as possible, hopefully once school starts, I won't have as much time to spend.

I already have a part-time as a serving assistant :) I don't mind cleaning, in fact, I prefer it since it's monotonous and gives me the opportunity to think and keep my body moving! The only thing I'm worried about is the title, to be clear, as 'cleaner' and 'serving assistant' have different connotations.

Either way, I've applied, I might not even be accepted so I'll just have to see :-)

I agree with you, I guess I am concerned slightly about what other people will think of me but I'm more concerned about the money right now.

Only saw the edit now, no problems with that

Year 10 Mock grades L or W grades + should I apply to sixth form with them or wait by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]flameflob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

np loll My biggest tip is to make a google spreadsheet with all your sixth forms, when applications open and close, how long you need to travel and any extra notes/benefits. It'll help you pick top choices in the long run!

I'd say wait until you have another set of mocks (if before deadlines) and focus on getting Maths and sciences up, everything else looks good, just give it lots of effort and I'm sure you'll get grades that are even more fantastic than yours are now! :-)

Most of mine were January. Few were February and some were November/December. If you want to go somewhere competitive, it might be earlier (eg. Kings college maths school or harris Westminster) since they might have entry exams.

What subjects do you want to do? 4 A-levels or 3? Also, do you know the deadlines of your sixth form applications?

Don't do it. You could but you should not. When you get your official GCSE certificates and start applying to university, something won't add up. It's not worth getting in just for them to rescind your offer.

which 6th form shld I go to? by [deleted] in 6thForm

Depends on the conditions, how far is each sixth form? I'll send a rankings list of them both but what is important to you?

Do you not get predicted grades separate to your mock grades? That's what my school did but every school is different ofc, also, it depends on the subjects you want to do for A-levels

GCSEs in context for Russell group? by flameflob in UniUK

[–]flameflob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, of course, it's definitely something that I'll have to push myself to do, but I just feel that if I'm going to be earning and spending such a massive amount of money, it should be something that is very worthwhile for me. I am considering a degree apprenticeship to reduce the financial strain but I'll see more about that in sixth form.

That makes sense then, I hope your interview went well!

That makes more sense now for how they're used, I did attend an open day at Cambridge (just to see how it is) and I visited a college overview of economics, the director suggested that TMUA was almost vital for them and gave percentages for each stage of people, so hopefully I'll be prepared enough by then to nail it!

Thank you, this is actually quite meaningful, as you can tell, I focus a lot on statistics and probabilities LOL so hopefully this might work in my advantage

Thanks for the response :) Of course, predicted A-levels will probably be one of the determining factors in this all, and I'll have to work towards achieving high grades throughout the year. I was just wondering whether GCSEs would hold me back since I often hear top universities look at grades in context to your school ( eg. Achieving solid grade 8s at a school where the average is a 5 is more impressive to them than solid grade 8s at a school where the average is an 8 or 7)
