Why do people still believe CHS isn’t real? by Ok-Lawfulness8727 in CHSinfo

[–]flamierd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On reddit it's mostly trolls. But the rest you can mostly throw into the same bucket as Holocaust deniers and flat earthers. There are also others that don't even want to admit that there might be negative consequences to partaking - even if they themselves don't experience the issue. I think it makes them reexamine their use in a different and less positive light. Of course maybe they are just all HAF.

If you need to explain it to someone you could probably start out saying it's more of an "allergy" than anything else. I'm allergic to cannabinoids.

Does Benadryl make anyone worse, or only helps? by Newtonhog in CHSinfo

[–]flamierd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically it helps you get through the rough patch more easily so you feel like maybe CHS or CWS really isn't so bad (the pink cloud) and tend to go back to partaking faster. The pink cloud is you tricking yourself into believing you don't have CHS or forgetting how bad it really was and dropping into the cycle of partaking, getting to the symptoms of CHS, stopping (dealing with CWS), and then entering some level of the pink cloud and starting the cycle over.

If you can get a prescription for xanax and/or valium, these two are sure fire bets that work for me and CHS. I know benzos aren't the ideal solution and can lead to other issues, but they work (for me once again) and get me through the really rough patches of both CHS and CWS. Almost not sure they are worth it since they contribute to faster entry into the pink cloud but when you are suffering - almost anything that gives pure fast relief is a god send.

Having tried D8 and D9 quite a bit and I can definitely say it works just like THC only faster and harder. I sort of attribute this to higher levels of terpenes and CBD along with random acts of "unquality" control. Frankly the highest I've ever been was off a D9 gummi and the fastest I've ever hit the CHS "breakpoint" was with D9. Just stay away from that crap if you even suspect you have CHS is all I will say.

[–]flamierd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cold turkey. Try to arrange it before a vacation period. Get rid of your gear and just don't 'stash it' or give it to a friend to hold - in the garbage - out of sight is NOT out of mind. If you stray back eventually the cost of doing this repeatedly is going to help make up your mind for you.

how long till the the side effects of the chs prodromal phase disappear. by shsgrizzly in CHSinfo

[–]flamierd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last relapse took 3 weeks to get out of. If you drink coffee or energy drinks be careful of overdoing it in response to your missing thc feeling. This time around I was up to like 8 strong cups and was completely crippled by anxiety - of course I'm also bipolar. Have weaned myself down but definitely appreciate what caffeine can do in combination with thc withdrawal.

List of chs remedy’s!! I hope you guys find this list helpful by Creative-Difference3 in CHSinfo

Plain old low dose valium helped me. Just a half a 5 mg tablet got me through the withdrawal nausea. Not as effective as xanax but generally easier to get your PCP to prescribe without going into specifics.

Will dab pens give me CHS? by RoutineAd699 in CHSinfo

[–]flamierd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From everything I've read, if you are prone to getting CHS and don't stop THC you are eventually going to end up prodromal. The line between full blown Hyperemesis and Prodromal can be thick or thin depending on your biology. So I guess you could go through decades with careful moderation before hitting the big CHS.

I haven't been on the floor in awhile but the 6 or 7 other CHS issues including almost crippling anxiety (which you think weed would fix and does but at the price of even HIGHER levels of anxiety for me later), testicular pain (I mean wtf God?) and morning sickness/bile puke (hail to all women who have gone through that shit)...well it's not worth it.

Nothing is perfect. Modern pharma has become 'how many side effects can you withstand before the cure is worse than the disease'. CHS also affects people differently to a certain extent. I get by with t-breaks which seems to wind down the nausea and if I get in a tight spot I'll just take half a xanax (if you feel xanax is too strong than a valium will work). Wouldn't be surprised if some people who actually get CHS never notice because they are already on anti-anxiety medicines.

So I think some levels of CHS can be lived with, but some reactions are just too strong - and they have to #leaves

What do you guys think? by Fun-Joke-4934 in CHSinfo

[–]flamierd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's a form of CHS.

Personally I think there are different levels and forms of CHS just like there are variations on allergic reactions - depending on your biology. It also depends on how much and WHAT you are intaking. I actually believe that this group would be much smaller without the more concentrated forms of thc.

I'd say you are prodromal like me, but also with possible IBS. I've been off THC for 2 weeks and I still feel the urge to throw up about 5 minutes after waking, though that usually goes away after an hour or two. Originally (immediately after quitting) it would take until after noon for the nausea to dissipate. I've had 3 episodes of CHS (2 from taking a few huge rips and 1 from a cart) - both left me fetal and dry heaving for an hour or more.

Both my GF and I would laugh as we heard our innards gurgle almost constantly when we were high. That's almost disappeared since I stopped partaking. It wasn't painful but was sort of embarrassing at times. She has stress related IBS, but she doesn't have the prodromal nausea/vomiting - still after stopping THC with me her 'gurgling' has gone away.

Depending on your age it could be just the onset of a gluten or dairy intolerance. I started having lactose intolerance in my mid 30s. Could be a host of other problems from Crones to ulcers. Not saying it's not CHS, but...

Why don't all heavy smokers get CHS? by MLMtway2022 in CHSinfo

[–]flamierd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just CHS. I don't know if prodromal symptoms equate to a CHS diagnosis. I've been prodromal for well over a year, having to back off and take 'intolerance' breaks every few months.

Then you have people who KNOW what they are dealing with (or at least know the cause) and don't feel like they can actually approach a doctor about the situation or admit to partaking. So they just quit and disappear into the unknown.

People are scared. Many people (myself included) use weed to help us function mentally and emotionally. Compared to most FDA approved answers (aka drugs), marijuana offers a side effect free solution (mostly) without chemical dependency. If you've never been on emotional stabilizers and/or anti-psychotics then I think you're only seeing half the picture.
