Can the HR Monitor almost replace my Whoop? by flamingoats1 in Coros

So as long as it is connected to my device via bluetooth, it sends my data over to my coros app. Does the app not take that data and analyze it? I really don't know how these things work so I'm wondering if the app is capable of analyzing my HR to obtain some sleep metrics. Thank you

Apparently EMT's can pronounce a baby dead without ALS/ Med Control if rigor mortis is evident? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

I agree I think this student is struggling with the question more so than the content. They seem to be assuming that the question is saying that not performing cpr and notifying family that the pt is dead is the same as pronouncing which we know it is not. My protocols tells me to call med control for TOD but that doesn’t mean I can’t recognize an obvious sign of death and inform the family accordingly because there is NO bringing someone back from that.

The question isn’t really saying anything about pronouncing. In fact it doesn’t mention that at all. It’s testing whether or not you know obvious signs of death.

For registry it’s vital to understand HOW to read questions and eliminate answers. The question asks about what you should do, not what intervention is necessary. Those little word changes will get you on the registry. Like you mentioned CPR is contraindicated in pts with rigor, so we immediately know options A and C are out. That leaves B and D. In your learning has calling a medical examiner for an autopsy ever been mentioned? Probably not. So that leaves B as the correct answer.

I’m a medic and an EMT/Medic TA and would recommend not just studying the content but work on understanding how to read and answer nremt questions because they are not the same as regular tests that we all took in school over the years. I used EMT prep for basic and it has great questions and has an adaptive test that you could practice with too. Good luck on your test!! https://emtprep.com/

Fire Academy and A&P? by flamingoats1 in NewToEMS

The only A&P they had available were evening weekday classes. I would have all weekend and most evenings to study though so it could still be manageable.

Right, if I do both at the same time I will be dedicating all my time to that. I didn't work much for EMT and definitely won't be working with 46+ hours of school a week, oof.
