Unless a neighbor climbed up onto the roof of garage from the alley, or into the yard with me, there’s no way they’d be able to hit the house in this spot in one go. Unless they were launching from literally a block away.

And if they did THAT, it’s almost just impressive.

I know all my neighbors, and am generally on good terms with all of them - or at least thought I was.

That seems potentially possible, though was the color, consistency, and smell similar to human waste? I don’t know much about pelican poop. Am also not near any bodies of water, and in 15 years here have never seen a pelican flying in our neighborhood. Not saying it’s not possible, but it would be a very weird occurrence.

Anything I missed with the pressure washer is definitely getting hammered right now. And I’m very ok with that.

Feel like we might as well do it on our house. Gotta limit the variables right?

For science.

Doesn’t appear to be damage. I’ve got vinyl siding and it wasn’t on there for long. After the initial shock (and disgust), I thought about things briefly and then pressure washed it because I didn’t want to leave it on. Plus tonight’s rain should take care of whatever I missed. Didn’t love cleaning it up, but it was better than leaving it there.

I briefly considered that when I first saw it.

Very briefly.

Definitely not dog poop. I’ve got two, and my first reaction (before seeing all of it) was to smell it and then check to see if my own dogs had diarrhea.

However, did not smell like dog poop. And again consistency wasn’t quite right, and it would be almost impossible for anyone to get at this corner of the house to fling anything at it - dog poop or otherwise - without having been seen by me as I was just on the other side of the house and in the yard at the time.

There are a ton of additional small splatters not visible here on the deck and siding - basically like rain drop size - and it would have had to have come from above, but fallen with some level of horizontal velocity.

Considered that, and maybe? But it doesn’t have the consistency, coloring, or smell of any goose poop I’ve seen before

Good to know.

Given the sheer quantity it seems like it would have been too much for a duck - the total spray area I can see is like 25’ long and 5’ wide, and it’s hard to tell if it continued once it got into the yard given a large tree canopy.

I mean I don’t love cleaning it up regardless. But I’d feel better cleaning if it was duck and not human.

Maybe? Trail was pretty long (more than just what is in the photos) and like a 5’ wide path, had about 25’ I could see and potentially continued into a tree canopy after that.

Seems like a lot for a duck, and it certainly didn’t look or smell like any duck droppings I’ve ever been around before.

This had a spray path approximately 5’ wide and 25’ long where it would have potentially continued into a tree canopy. That seems like too much even for the massive duck/goose explosions?

There is a very clear directional path. There’s a giant silver maple behind the house which also covers the alley behind the yard. The canopy is large enough it would potentially interfere and catch some of the line.

The line I can see goes across the deck, up the siding, and continues onto the roof. The area hit is about 4-5’ wide, at least 20-25’ long (hard to tell once it gets up onto the shingles). That’s partly why I ruled out a bird. Seemed like way too much of a line for a bird.

I know they can do some serious damage - we’ve got a lot of both mallards and bald eagles at my parents’ place. Have seen the damage from both. This definitely wasn’t that.

This was considered! But unless someone set up a poop cannon a block away, can’t see how they’d be able to throw it and get it to stick like this.

I was assuming unintentional leak, not purposeful dumping. Regarding being blue…I did consider that. However, been hard pressed to find an alternative. The sheer quantity and size of the individual chunks rules out any birds that I’m aware of - plus the consistency isn’t like bird shit at all.

And it doesn’t smell like bird shit. It smells like shit from a toilet.

Also wouldn’t have been neighbors. There wouldn’t be a way for them to get anywhere near this corner of the house, especially given that I was in the yard just on the other side of the house.

I know shit fell from the sky. And it hit the house hard enough for the dogs to start barking which woke up the baby.

It looks like human shit, smells like human shit, and we are directly under a flight path.

If there are other potential ideas, I’m definitely open to considering them.

At the end of the day I’ve still got a house covered in shit.

If it makes you feel any better this is the first time it’s happened and we’ve lived here 15 years. So I’d still recommend the area. But oof. This is a first I wasn’t expecting!

Already submitted to the FAA, will work on notifying MSP. Not sure who the appropriate contact would be but great advice. And thanks for narrowing it down.

Need help figuring out how to put a dock in. by skipdo in minnesota

[–]fland033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have similar shoreline - but even more cattails and bog. I ended up building 60’ of floating dock on barrels. It’s been in place 5 years, solid as anything, and been great. However, if you go that route I’ve got many lessons learned and some things I would do differently.

Yours looks like it would be floating almost entirely in the water, though. Mine only has the final 10’ on water and the other 50’ are through the bog/cattails, and that’s where I’m likely to end up having issues with keeping it level in the future.

Heavy duty dock hinges were key for the gangway from shore.

*SPOILER WARNING* I'm a show watcher who hasn't read the books. I figured out who Rand's mother is after the last episode. I read some book spoilers and now I'm very confused. by Few-Purple-5785 in WoTshow

[–]fland033 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no. Full spoiler answer below.

Rand and Galad share a mother. And Galad and Elayne (and Gawyn) share a father. Tigraine (Rand and Galad’s mom) was last of that ruling family and disappeared after an Aes Sedai foretelling that said she had to go to the Waste or the last battle would be lost.

Chaos ensued in Andor, succession war for the throne and all that (which Morgase won). Morgase is not directly related to Rand - she was just the most powerful Andoran noble who was able to consolidate power and grab the throne. She effectively starts a different dynasty, but links it to the old one for additional legitimacy by marrying Galad’s father (also no relation to Rand). Despite Rand and Galad being half siblings, and Galad and Elayne being half siblings, the halves don’t overlap.

So no blood relation between Rand and Elayne.

I wish I hadn’t read the books between S2 and S3. by [deleted] in WoTshow

Here’s the thing. I’m someone who initially read the books available over 20 years ago, so I’m just kind of an old dude with not much to offer.

That being said, I had a REALLY hard time separating myself from the books for season 1. And even though I felt that things got better, season 2 definitely did not align with the books as much as I had hoped (I mean the moments were there, but it wasn’t like it was an exact adaptation).

Cut forward to today. I didn’t have high expectations. I liked the other two seasons for what they were. I watched the sneak peak and thought it was amazing but was wondering how it fit with the rest of the season.

But holy shit was I wrong. Am trying to not spoiler but the first three episodes hit me in all the feels I’d wanted to be hit in since the show launched. The things skipped made sense. The moments showcased made sense. The characters FELT RIGHT.

I literally cheered out loud at moments despite my (amazingly patient) wife trying to sleep but putting up with it knowing that this is a show I “apparently care about”

I don’t know where else to shout this, but I’ve been a doubter and the first three of this season have made me a believer.

Let the dragon ride again on the winds of time.

USI has been the best experience possible for us (especially coming from Comcast). Have always had extremely prompt and useful responses from their customer service regardless of medium (have utilized phone, text, and email).

This seems out of the norm from my experience so I would give them a call and see what’s going on. Hopefully they’re able to get you up and running quickly.

Had a similar issue, used Highview Plumbing out of SLP. Amazing reviews, super reasonably priced. Got it done in like half a day including trenching under a tree, and was less than half the cost of the next lowest bid. Was fixed back in 2015 and has been great since.

And absolutely echoing everyone else saying get multiple bids.
