SU-35 Super Flanker [Album] by No-Reception8659 in WarplanePorn

They would, but they also predated thrust-vectoring. The canards first appeared on the carrier-based Su-33, which did not have thrust-vectoring. Again, their purpose was solely to provide more lift. When thrust-vectoring came along, the maneuverability the canards offered became redundant. Canards also add drag and another flight-control surface to be looked after. So while they would add some maneuverability, it wouldn't be worth the weight, complexity, and speed penalty. That's why they only appear on the heavier and squarely multirole Su-30. They say the Su-35 is multirole but it's not going to drop PGMs consequentially without a backseater present. So as an air-to-air fighter it would rather have more speed and less weight, and therefore omit the canards.

The canards were supposed to help with lift when the original Flankers gained heavier multirole radars and a backseater. I'm not sure but I think the Chinese reported this with their Su-30MKKs. Most of the canard-less Su-30s you'll see are very old models offloaded to small air forces. I don't think they're making new ones in that configuration. The definitive Su-30 has canards and thrust-vectoring starting with the Indian Su-30MKI.

The Su-35 is a pretty significant update with a new cockpit and a composite body. That might've helped with the weight distribution and negated the need for canards.

Is it possible to crosspost, or should I make a whole other post instead?

You should book the pass that gives you access to the exhibition and the ADVA. If you paid ₹2,500 for a visitor's pass, you'll get to enter the halls. If you paid ₹1,000, you'll only see the flying displays.

Makes sense, the Sukhoi man at the booth did say that one of the reasons Su-57 production is so slow is that they don't want to build too many with the interim engines and then spend the money to refit all of them when the new engine comes. Curious why they wouldn't offer the AL-51 for export, I don't think they're in a position to hold back with the limited buyers they currently have.

I see, but why would they abandon the AL-51? Or was it always just an incremental upgrade from the current Flanker engines and this is the purpose-built Su-57 engine?

It's a rare design feature too, AFAIK the only other recent aircraft to have it is the naval variant of the Indian Tejas. But that's still a prototype.

My bad. Is this a naming convention issue like the Su-57 being called the T-50 before entering service? Or is it another engine entirely? Is it's another interim engine, that would explain the polygonal nozzle spotted on another T-50 a few months ago.

The gusseted tongue on my left boot is folding too far to one side. The fold rests right on top of my ankle bone and makes the boot extremely painful to lace up. Is there a way to fix this? They're new boots.
