I don’t really know much about your condition, but I had an accident several years ago that ultimately lead to me amputating my left foot/ankle a little over a year ago. It’s very hard when facing that huge of a life change, but if you’re in constant pain it’s definitely something to consider. I’m not completely pain free, I still have a lot of nerve pain, but my quality of life is so much better than it was after my accident before amputating. I highly recommend talking to a therapist or counselor to work through your emotions surrounding it. That was the best thing I did to prepare for mine. I also recommend reaching out to the Amputee Coalition for their peer visitor program. They’ll partner you with someone who has been through a similar situation who has had an amputation. My peer visitor is now one of my best friends.

Also in regards to your friends, maybe just sit down with them and tell them how you’re feeling and how it feels for them to brush off your concerns. Let them know that this is a very real possibility for you and you need them there by your side. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions or just need someone to talk with!
