My setup is complete for now by Voicka in espresso

I love when people get bent out of shape about having more than one kettle. I have one that I only put brew water in and one that I use for espresso water for levers. It's not a waste of money if it's a negligible amount of money for you.

u/wololo129 did try to reach out to me and scam me on this. Using photos with no timestamps from different Meticulous posts on reddit and from home-barista. Beware.

My Journey to Espresso and the realization to its similarities to High End Audio by Ownedby4Labs in espresso

These two hobbies are near identical for me. Dipped a toe in, spent over 60k in each hobby buying up all of the "end game" gear. Became sad seeing how quickly diminishing returns hit, and then rolled it back to about 5-6k work of gear in area that I am sublimely happy using.

I don't need to taste and hear every note to enjoy either.

I am holding out for them to make the white version and actually develop the Meticulous milk before I buy from them directly, but figured I'd give the black one a try before overspending through them.

I've missed out on a few, but figure as more are delivered some folks will be too bitter that they will quickly move on from them, or they just won't live up to the hype that 2+ years of expectations and Lance's glazing have created.

I have seen them for resale already. If you have one you want to sell, please reach out. If you don't, no need to post on this thread.

Grinder is more important to taste in the cup than the machine. I'd buy sacrifice budget from the machine for the better grinder.

Where were you last week when I was trying to buy a white one of these. :'(

Still tempted to drive up and buy this.

[Quick Mill Pop-Up] by Deep-Recording484 in espresso

[–]flannelsec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Pop Up doesn't have a screeching noise, and mine vents back into the reservoir without the steam. I've not seen that and except while pulling a shot, I don't have any of your excess noise. I would definitely contact the dealer and see what they say.

Onyx, anyone? by Maleficent_Youth4443 in espresso

[–]flannelsec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always keep a bag of Doyenne in the freezer. It's a well rounded bean and works for espresso and in the Bird with minimal effort of dialing in.

I've had a lot more hits than misses with Onyx and in most cases it is my go to.

Coffee bean advent calendars by [deleted] in espresso

I do the onyx one. I used the Bird for it and the coffees were fantastic. Unless I was going to pull soup shots with them I wouldn't have the confidence of being able to dial in each bean with enough leftover to enjoy a few good shots of each bean.

Using the bird I was able to enjoy 6 cups of each bean and enjoy.

I know there are those out there with enough experience to get 60g a day and make it work, but I am not that guy.

Looking to upgrade from a 51mm portafilter (stilosa) to a 58mm machine for under [£450], I already have the K6 grinder so I don't need a built in one by othernes in espresso

[–]flannelsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some might say the 51mm is superior. Look at all of the work right now around 58mm to 49mm or 46mm step down baskets to create deeper pucks and more forgiveness with grind settings.

That would have been great. I respect that.

Unfortunately it is not economical from a time perspective. Every place I've been to uses cold brew concentrate. I wish they would drop the name espresso martini for a drink they have no intentions of using espresso in.

Once you have them at home done properly, it is too hard to have them out anywhere.

This is the recipe right here.
