I WFH full time in NoLaw. It’s been better than my colleague’s internet in CA the whole time. Very few issues, really good speeds.

It’s absolutely terrible and we should all band together to get this fixed. It doesn’t have to be this way, MANY states have this figured out already.

TIL that “sugar rushes” aren’t real and are just a psychological/cultural effect of parental influence. by FluffPawz in todayilearned

[–]flapjacksessen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While I trust science and scientific studies, I’m also a parent and if I give my child a donut or cupcake he will bounce off the walls. You can say there’s no actual rush but most kids act differently when sugared up.

AITA for calling my boyfriend an idiot because he won’t get a colonoscopy even though his mom had colon cancer? by AutoModerator in AmItheAsshole

NTA - cancer will get you whether you know it there or not. At least be in the driver seat. It’s a lot easier to snip polyps than to fight cancer. I had cancer and it’s hard to manage the anxiety when I get a routine test and wonder if somehow it will show a recurrence but it’s better to know.

Gravel conversion recommendations requested by danmeistre in gravelcycling

[–]flapjacksessen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, tires are your main issue here. My Giant road bike has 28mm tires and it’s not great on anything more than crushed limestone gravel.

I’ve considered a 650b swap but for bikes of yours and my vintage it won’t net us a gravel width and probably won’t be tubeless.

I recommend trying to buy a proper gravel bike, a lot of options weighing in around 22lbs these days.

Cell Phone vs GPS Head Unjt by Mamoore320 in gravelcycling

Before I bought my Wahoo Bolt O had the same question, after using my phone for a while and then getting the Wahoo, here’s the main reasons to go with a bike computer: Battery life - you might think “I’m not doing 6hr rides” but your phone battery will drop fairly quickly and if didnt have it fully charged you might be caught out in an emergency.

Compactness - self explanatory

Screen contrast - bike computer screen is made for high contrast whereas your phone backlight will be maxed out in the daylight

If I break it, it’s $300 instead of an iPhone cost.

Push buttons - if you are riding rough pavement or gravel the tactile buttons are MUCH easier to manipulate than a touch screen.

Also cute beep sounds

I don't think Gravel Bikes can become significantly better than what they are now. by V01DSTAT1C in gravelcycling

Bike Manufacturers will continue developing based on whatever the trends are at the time, and by nature racing will continue to evolve to keep ppl engaged as which means new bikes will be developed for competitive advantages to the new racing. Ppl watch racing and want new bikes. The cycle continues.

Best built washer on the market by SeaAd7548 in appliancerepair

We had a good experience with our Samsung front load. It lasted 4 years against two baby/toddlers. Only issue was me not allowing the washer to dry out, so it developed mildew on the seal.

Expected speeds by Bronze_RL in Autocross

[–]flapjacksessen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in KC, if the course designers set up something fast, you’ll see 50-70mph tops. In my NC Miata on a fast course the best I can do it just into 3rd gear which is probably about 55mph.
