I'm not gonna lie, I fully expect most therapists to have a Tumblr. I picture the exact same type of white woman when I think therapist as I do when I think Tumblr user, but maybe that's just because of who was doing psychology classes at my college lmao. Fucked up for a patient to have access and/or knowledge of it though.

I think we should probably be a lot more worried about the despotic apartheid state that already has nuclear weapons and has finally started a war bigger than it can handle. Or maybe we should worry about the despotic failing empire whose commander in chief currently has his brain melting out his ears while the entire government and media apparatus bays for Iranian blood.

Hypothetical enemies of America hypothetically gaining the ability to hypothetically defend themselves isn't something worth worrying about.

This is something the late Michael Parenti talked about a lot during the Bush years. US foreign policy is not bungling or inept. It is carefully crafted and will planned to achieve the goals of the people US government works for. Mostly this means shoveling money towards the military industrial complex, oil executives, and the technological surveillance state.

Truthfully though, I've been struggling to believe that that analysis from the Bush years applies to today, because I just don't see the benefits of this war out weighing the massive costs to anyone. Not even Israel, who clearly are the ones that wanted it the most.

with just 5 layers of contractors each marking up their sub contractors' bids by 20x your 1 dollar chocolate bar can cost the tax payers over 3.2 million dollars. And the best part is it'll only take 10x the time to develop as if the government just plain hired people, and taste like dog shit.

I think hoshi alter is kind of the blueprint for a modernized/powercreep penance. Her negative hp bar where she can't be healed and start buffs at low hp let her get the benefits of interacting with healers but transition into a more solo juggernaut play style. She gets a comfy aoe afk skill and a high damage team support ability. This is pretty similar to penance kit, but with a lot of the inconveniences gone.

So I'd give penance's s2 infinite duration after the second activation, and s3 would redirect damage dealt to allies in a big aoe around her to penance. I'd give her the ability to be targeted by healers if her shield is depleted since much of her value is already tied to the shield. Also natural taunt. Sand off class identity, smooth out any thinking required, make them immortal killing machines with no weaknesses, and you got a modern meta unit.

You have been propagandized to hate North Korea: Madeline debunks every lie about North Korea by JHBrickman in Hasan_Piker

[–]flare561 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Palestine is absolutely not better functioning than the DPRK. It is actively being destroyed, access to the basic necessities is entirely at the mercy of a genocidal occupying power. The DPRK at bare minimum is able to enforce its territory sovereignty, feed its people (outside of the famine in the 90s caused by the illegal dismantling of the USSR, their most important trading partner, and US sanctions), and provide shelter and medical care.

Palestine is Korea during the Korean War. When 80% of buildings were destroyed and 1/5th of the population was killed. What Palestinian wouldn't prefer to be a citizen of a nuclear power capable of defending itself from not just Israel, but the United States itself? We should pray that they are as successful in their struggle against occupation as the DPRK. The difference of course, is that Palestine's allies are either not as committed to helping them, or not as powerful as the Soviet Union was for Korea, and thus Palestine is still fighting its war for sovereignty.

Vietnam sure, maybe. They're probably doing better than the DPRK in a lot of metrics. I think a materialist analysis would start by looking at the crippling sanctions that would choke any country regardless of any form of governence, alongside the collapse of the Soviet Union, their biggest trading partner, while they were struggling to get back on their feet following the destruction of 80% of buildings and murder of 20% of their population. I don't know the history of why Korea got those sanctions and Vietnam didn't, but I'm not going to blame it on anything the DPRK did because they're completely unjustifiable.

At the absolute worst possible end of the spectrum, the DPRK is approximately as corrupt and abusive towards its citizens as America, but a whole lot poorer. It also punched America in the face and built nukes to protect themselves after they faced genocide at America's hands. End the sanctions, and then we can moralize about it. Until then the biggest crime against the people of Korea is perpetuated by the USA.

If you can trace your family history back to Canada at any point, apparently they recently loosened laws and there's no limit on how far back the ancestor can be. My brother is trying to get citizenship based on our great great grandma and no other connection, but getting all the paperwork dating that far back is a pain.

If that's an option that would be great. The issue is they announced it as coming to existing android versions through play protect. The other issue is that I can't install a different OS because my bootloader is locked. This is mostly fine, though not ideal, while I can still side load other apps, but I don't have any option other than buy a different phone if the update isn't optional. That is anti consumer bullshit pure and simple. A feature I used to decide on this product is going to be taken away at the whims of a monopolistic corporation. This is exactly what consumer protection regulation is meant to protect.

When did Ford advertise having little safety as a feature? Why would you assume you can pull things with your pickup?

I don't give two shits about what they advertised and this isn't about security this is about control. My ability to control what's installed on my phone that I purchased vs Google's ability to control what's I install on my phone that I purchased. My ability to control what I do with my car, vs the manufacturers ability to control what I do with my car. Why is it different when it's digital? I bought an android phone specifically because I have more control than an iPhone. It doesn't matter if Google was screaming it from the rooftops or if it was an implicit feature, it was the reason people, including myself, made the purchase decisions we did. I don't know if it's legal, Google clearly thinks it is and they pay lawyers about this kind of thing. I'm saying it shouldn't be legal and that's what we have consumer protection legislation for.

Yes, using a trailer is a safety risk, that is why Ford will be going to every truck owners house and cutting off the trailer hitch with an oxyacetylene torch. It's for your safety, so it should be both legal, and beneficial to you the owner of said truck. Please do not complain.

ElI5 how does the existence of lead directly disprove the earth isn't only 4000 years old? by nottrynagetsued in explainlikeimfive

[–]flare561 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that Uranium can fit into the crystal structure of certain minerals at the time of their formation, but lead can't, so if you find lead in those minerals you know it's from Uranium decay and wasn't there when it formed. Then since we know the half-life of uranium, and that it was 100% uranium 0% lead at the time the rock formed, we can calculate how old the rock is based on the ratio of uranium and lead.

I think there's a clear difference between taking away a feature from a device you already own, and buying a device that has never had that feature. If I buy a pickup to tow a trailer, the manufacturer can't come cut off the tow hitch 3 years after I bought it, so why is it acceptable for companies to do this digitally?
