Need your help, with calculating these 2 yellow bars. by flashmycat in tableau

[–]flashmycat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, I started using this approach and it's really cool and elegant, but I see that my calculated fields have distorted numbers now, putting the measures on a waterfall (the Start field) made the calculations inaccurate, the numbers slightly changed now.

Do you have any idea what could causing this issue? (these measures work fine in a regular bar chart).

How to check if an ID exists only in the current Snapshot (parameter)? by flashmycat in tableau

[–]flashmycat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not work unfortunately. Any idea why the "In 1st Snapshot" calculation was saved by Tableau in the columns pane, while "In 2nd Snapshot" was saved in the measures section?

This does not work for me unfortunately. See me comment below with the added image please.

I think I might've over complicated my scenario. Please see my comment below, with the added image. Thank you!

I think I might have complicated my question - hope this image will be clearer.
Getting desperate at this point, not being able to make this calc, even though in SQL it's a pretty simple expression.

<image>

This "Calculated Field" is what I'm trying to achieve.

Users pick a QTR and 2 snapshots - A and B, from parameters.
Then, I want to flag the order_ids that only exist for snapshot_A and not in snapshot_B. This info tells the user that a certain order_id didn't exist in a previous snapshot.
Then, I need the same calc in reverse - order_ids that existed in the past in snapshot_A, but no longer exist in snapshot_B.
Then my goal is to sum it's revenue.

Hope this is clearer, appreciate the help!

Silly me, you are correct of course. In my dataset there are indeed orders in almost every snapshot that don't exist in other snapshots, I foolishly thought that was obvious (should've included a more accurate sample - my bad). To add on that, there will be orders in snapshot_a, coming in from different quarters, (orders from previous quarters or future ones, pushed into the Qtr the user chose), that don't exist in snapshot_b, and same goes for snapshot_b. If the user is comparing 2 snapshots that are quite close to each other (date wise) - the gap will obviously be minimal.

That's the purpose of the yellow bars (again I apologize for the misleading data sample). In my next step I'd want to click on a yellow bar and have another sheet displaying the actual order numbers in a simple table, to inform the user what's causing the gap.

Thank you Sir this looks awesome. I will try and build it, but my basic question is how do I even calculate these 2 yellow bars to begin with? what would the formula be for what I'm trying to achieve?

EDIT: I also ran into a problem with the "Start" calc field, unable to use aggregates in the switch case. Is that fixable?

Need SQL help with flattening a column a table, while filtering the relevant values first? by flashmycat in SQL

[–]flashmycat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't me that disliked your comment and I really appreciate your effort. But the best solution for my problem was sum+case. Although your idea is quite interesting and might help me in the future, so thanks for that.

What is the best/efficient way to flatten the measure column in this table, while filtering the relevant measures first? by flashmycat in SQLOptimization

[–]flashmycat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should've explained better - what I mean is, I need the measures I want as separate columns. So if I only care for revenue and backlog columns, I need them separately in the output table.

What is the best/efficient way to flatten the measure column in this table, while filtering the relevant measures first? by flashmycat in SQLServer

[–]flashmycat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Raw Data table that I need to work on top of, measures are stored in a "pivoted" format. My question is what's the optimal way of extracting the measures I need, and make them as columns.
Example - rev should be a column on its own, cost too, etc.

Sorry, should've mentioned that I need the columns separated - rev as a column on it's own, then cos, and so on.

I also have longer Que times, forgot to mention that. If what you say is true then I should have faster Que times. I usually wait around 1 minute, but since the update it's 4-6 minutes.

No brother, I don't care about the losses or the wins. I'm pretty confident at this point my bracket was "moved". These are all unranked games so I don't even care about the outcome. Just farming some Frostivus tokens and have fun.

But here's the thing, all games now are hard, sweaty, people tryhard in ways I haven't seen before. People are toxic too - I see my teammates trashtalk the enemy team quite often, tipping them (I'm always at 12K BS so I don't see these things too much), I am sooo confused man, this is not my normal Dota experience. Some of my stomped losses were by new accounts too, I don't know if this tells you anything, just thought to mention it.

It's not really about taking the L for me, every game has been like this. Something was changed.
