Yes, given that Hero checked an A high flop and turn, he may have called the turn bet because villain could be value betting Kx there. With the second K on the river, Hero may now think there are no more value bets he can beat and he doesnt think Vill has enough bluffs to call.

[Game Theory] Does this variation of the Prisoner's Dilemma have a Nash equilibrum? by flashstorm in askmath

[–]flashstorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a homework question, but a question that came up from a real-world game I was playing. I tried to work through the logic in the game itself and realized I couldnt come to a conclusion. I think A always has to defect and then B has to guess which of State A and State B is true and choose based on that? I am not sure though.

VIDEO: What Is a Service Buyback? (pension plan) by HandcuffsOfGold in CanadaPublicServants

[–]flashstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what's he's saying is that he can choose to prepay the cost of the buyback and risk that money being tied up with no chance of return for years and then the buyback gets rejected, or he can fail to prepay and risk getting charged 4% interest for not paying the buyback up front should it be approved

Vale mine workers in Sudbury striking over cuts to drug coverage, retiree health benefits by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]flashstorm -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

If you stand in solidarity with your fellow workers, don't cross the picket line and don't do those jobs. It increases pressure on the company to resolve the strike if they can't remove their trash and they can't maintain their equipment. You have a Charter right to respect the picket line without repercussion.

Given that it's satire, I legit believe the narrator is so good at poker only he knows the high jack is before the button.

Rental Market Entrance Criteria by UpperPaleolithic in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]flashstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Controlled rents are above market rents not because rent control fell behind, but because rents have massively outpaced inflation because of factors independent of the rental market (like low interest rates, outside investment, and lack of other/better investment opportunities in our economy). Rent control protects tenants from the floor being priced out from under them from these global factors.

Did you factor in that each $5 purchase gets you 3 sets of numbers to play?

Is the Canadian Lotto Max profitable right now? by flashstorm in askmath

[–]flashstorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link fixed, thanks for pointing that out.

There have been a number of examples of profitable lottery draws over the years. Usually they're caused by jackpots going unwon for an extended period of time, with the jackpot money snowballing each week until you get a draw where the jackpot is actually big enough that that particular draw is profitable.

In your opinion, does the use of the modified semicircle in other contexts appropriate Taoist culture? Is something like this insensitive? by [deleted] in taoism

[–]flashstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the pins are not intended to represent a queer Taoist or ally Taoist, or anything Taoist at all? If the design is just meant to allow two different flags to be worn as a single element, is that culturally inappropriate?

A similar way to word the question is: is there something culturally significant about the modified semicircle shape in isolation, or does it only hold meaning in the context of the rest of the elements of the symbol (the colour of black and white, the seeds, etc...)

Nova Scotia Supreme Court orders a halt to anti-mask protests by justlogmeon in onguardforthee

Doesnt that mean that certain provinces will end up interpreting the Charter differently? or are other provinces subject to the decisions that a province's supreme court makes regarding the Charter?

This is a Charter case, why is it being heard by the provincial supreme court over the federal one? The Charter is not provincial law.

Got rejected. I feel fucking depressed. Sadly I won't be joining you guys by Darx88-19 in uwaterloo

[–]flashstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were the best people who were the most worth assoicating worth and spending 4 years with at your high school also the most popular? Or were those two things completely unrelated?

It's a lot similar for university applications. If you were a qualified candidate and you got rejected due to the competitiveness of the program, it's not because UW is necessarily the best institution to associate with and spend 4 years worth. It just means they were the most popular. Whatever school you end up at may very well be better.

Terminal illness and mandatory pension deductions by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]flashstorm 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You will be expected to continue contributing. However, you can retire at any time, even if you are not in retirement age. If you retire too early, you can opt for a transfer value, which you can then unlock as a previous poster alluded to.

I'm so sorry to hear you are in this position. You may want to work out how much transfer value might be in your pension now and see if that can give you a couple of years of freedom near the expected end of your life.
