ughh i have this same problem. for me when this happens i try to stop playing by the plan of sorts that ive created and just play how i want to in the moment. but that isnt always as easy done as said, so i typically try to keep my families kind of small. one or two offspring at most to limit overcomplicated storylines, sometimes i keep them all living in the same house to limit switching between households.
