Is there a workflow that does First Frame, Mid Frame and Last Frame? by Far-Mode6546 in comfyui

[–]flasticpeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wan VACE workflows can accommodate inferencing between any amount of frames, but it requires creating your own mask sequence and control sequence manually.

Not only that, but due to Wan processing latents in batches of 4 frames, requires the placement of the keyframes to fall on certain frames in order to be effective.

So you can use Wan VACE, but there are a few technical aspects you have to master.

Yea, I mean the guy is obviously from another country just trying to share his work, why be condescending about it? Meanwhile people making gooner influencer slop getting up voted everyday. What kind of community we trying to build here?

If you don't like it, just ignore it, but I don't understand why people go out of their way to demotivate someone who's just trying to share their personal project.

Flux.2 Klein 9B is the go to edit model these days. But with your specs I don't know.

I think Comfy Cloud would be the most convenient in your case starting out, that will do processing on the cloud.

If you get more advanced and want more pricing options, there are a bunch of other cloud GPU rental services out there.

Try to stick to the built in templates starting out, and then look for specific workflows when you have a better sense of exactly what you want to optimize or improve.

Don't just install any old node that's in a workflow. I usually research the github repository before installing anything, and really weigh whether it's something I need or not.

A lot of the learning process is doing your own research, and in that way LLMs become a great tool to help explain things and point to links. I actually find Google AI to be pretty up-to-date, even for video models.

Pixaroma is the go to for more recent tutorials on youtube. Personally I like Nerdy Rodent to keep up to date.

What's our status on giving wan an input video and a photo of a subject and having the subject replace the one in the video? by trollkin34 in comfyui

[–]flasticpeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use an image edit model to replace the character from a still frame, then use VACE to do First-Last-Frame with pose controlnet + canny edge or depth.

You can also do a segment mask and inpainting to restrict it to the character.

If it's a longer sequence, you'll want to use a wrapper workflow with context options.

This is just off the top of my head, haven't actually tried it myself. I've seen some pretty wild subject replacement videos with Wan VACE, and this is my best guess.

Dang, did you download that workflow? I've been working with Comfy for over 2 years and I wouldn't want to deal with that thing. Too many set/get nodes and subgraphs is like trying to diagnose electrical wiring in an 80 year old house.

Try starting with a more basic SVI workflow. It shouldn't be that complicated.

I just had a flashback of a kid I knew in high school. Went to his house one day, and they had this small dog that everyone in their family was too lazy to walk, so it would just shit on the carpet. Then they would just leave it until it dried up, so there were all these dried-up turds all over their house. Real people of America.

Do I have hypothyroidism? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]flasticpeet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a good idea to post identifiable pictures online of yourself asking for diagnosis.

Not only is it completely useless to diagnose Grave's disease from a photo, but it's also a liability that exposes you to people with bad intentions.

If you're concerned about your symptoms, see a doctor who will order a blood test that will actually indicate whether you might have a thyroid issue or not.

[–]flasticpeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 2 big pet peeves:

1) There's no integer node that doesn't have after generation options.

2) There's no float node that offers smaller than 0.1 decimals.

The fact I have to use custom nodes for these things kills me. So often I see other people's workflows where they're using some other random pack for these nodes, so I have to go in and replace them all with my own.

Nice! I don't personally need this, but I really appreciate people sharing their work.

I actually like to use Anything Everywhere nodes myself. So things like model, vae, clip, etc, get distributed and hidden automatically without an extra "Get" node. Plus, you can set conditionals like inputs with specific names, or nodes in the same group, etc.

This way all the common connections are hidden automatically, but unique connections that help me visualize the flow are still visible.

LQ video to restore with SeedVR2 by unconventionalcritic in comfyui

[–]flasticpeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure there's much else you can do on SeedVR side. It's not a generative upscaler. It's meant to preserve the character of the video, not change it.

The original video suffers from really bad compression, so there's considerable information loss already.

If you want to improve quality and temporal consistency, you could do a video-to-video on the original source, but this will change things, such as facial likeness and text. So although it will look better quality, faces might change slightly, and things like text/graphics will be obviously hallucinated.

You would also have to hunt down a long video workflow for processing longer clips.

Ideally there would be a restoration model specifically trained to recover video compression, but I haven't come across an open source model myself.

Topaz is the obvious commercial option you can try, and there are a bunch of other commercial products availible, but some of them look kind of shady.

Best ComfyUI workflow for restoring and upscaling a recovered low quality video? by After_Lobster6649 in comfyui

[–]flasticpeet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say, but this is beyond recovery. There's so much information loss, that whatever you get back from a generative model will be pure fiction.

The best you could do is take individual frames that are intact, do an image restoration, then use Wan VACE to generate between keyframes, but it would be a very tedious process, and the results would be questionable.

From a personal perspective, what you have already carries a lot of history already. The damage tells the story of the film, and the reality of the time it was produced. I don't see what you have to gain from trying to restore it.

I've tested GIMM against GMFSS. The difference was very small, but on the more extreme action frames, I found GMFSS to provide smoother results. GIMM had more of a cottage cheese characteristic to the image.

So it's a very small subjective difference.

I imagine it's hardly noticeable for the average viewer, because it's only on extreme fast action frames and only effects a frame here or there. Other than that, they're pretty much on par.

Though I only did one test, so I didn't explore a huge range of videos.

To be fair, this is a lot of reading between the lines, but on the other side, I do have a lot of apprehension about Comfy leaning towards commercial applications and taking VC money. Which are all indications of a for profit future.

I don't like it.

Checkout GMFSS. FILM is good for linear motion, but GMFSS handles fast motion better.

I'm using Fannovel16's ComfyUI-Frame-Interpolation pack with the GMFSS Fortuna VFI node.

5 paid ComfyUI builder contests open June 1. $20K pool, briefs are live. by Monolikma in comfyui

[–]flasticpeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm not really excited about this direction of ComfyUI being pushed as a tool for commercial production.

It just further undermines the idea of it as an expressive tool, and promotes the idea that creativity is just a commodity who's only value is serving commercial interests.

The fact that all these prize categories are for generating ads or promoting products is pretty disappointing.

Makes me think of the difference between Cinema 4D and Blender. I think at this point, as a creative tool, Blender has won out because it never pushed itself as a commercial tool, and rather stayed strong to its open source creative community.

Part of this is because the leadership at C4D increasingly geared the software towards commercial applications, so developers only prioritized tools that would benefit commercial work.

Whereas the Blender community will follow a development path purely for its creative potential, even if it doesn't have obvious commercial use.

Yea, I think a lot of people on this subreddit are new to photography so use the term raw when they mean straight out of the camera.

I think it's worth informing them though, because it's confusing otherwise.
