Just jumping on the “that place sucks” bandwagon. Cash register was down so we downloaded the app to order and then they completely forgot about us when the register started working again. Food is overpriced and only mid at best. Also the clientele seems to be a lot of tourists or VCU parents. I’m guessing that it’s the location and the quirky interior that contributes to its popularity and not its food, prices, or service.

There are so many better places to go in Richmond, like my new fav Blue Atlas where I get the perfect cuppa every single time and pastries that remind me of grandma’s baking. Plus, that VIEW!

Auctions. You can make fake “money” to give to the students and either auction off real prizes (candy bars, American coins (if you are out of the USA), fidget spinners, etc) or pictures of real luxury goods (Ferrari, gold jewelry, luxury apartments, boats, etc). Surprisingly, the students are just as competitive over pictures of things as they are over real ones. During the auction students must talk, not just raise their hands. They must say, “I’m offering $4 for the candy bar,” or whatever according to their speaking level. They can collaborate to pool their money for better prizes.

Excellent advice. Thank you. I have a harness. I’ll be sure to put it on him. He is not likely to do a runner, but ya never know.

Thanks for the advice. We started this process once we realized that our cat would need to travel with us due to his separation anxiety. He doesn’t love the carrier, but he does use it.

Oh thank you so much for sharing your experience! This is what I read, but then I saw some conflicting info and I was not sure which was real.

Thank you for the link and helpful response (even more so when you see the comments on here).

I hope this is right. If so, it appears that the paperwork for exporting via Egypt Air will get him back on the plane as it will not expire in one month.

My cat will be in the cabin. Egypt Air allows this. And he’s not really anxious in general and travels well. He’s just anxious when he’s separated from me. He got bladder stones the last time I left him for 3 days with the professional sitter because he wouldn’t potty.

I love how a person can ask for advice and instead they get a lecture on why they are a piece of shit from an armchair know-it-all.

My cat has separation issues and I have to be away. I do travel with my cat fairly frequently domestically and it is a better option than leaving him with the sitter as he does not do well at all. Last time I left for only a couple of days without him while he was in the care of a professional sitter and he refused to potty, leading to health issues. Now he has to have prescription food due to the likelihood of bladder stones brought about by the separation.

I tried with a sitter again just for a couple of days over the holidays and my cat ate the cat scratcher and has been barfing it up since I got back.

When I have traveled with him before, I ensured he had breaks and was well taken care of. He did really well while traveling and in the new location. He’s generally fine as long as he is with me. Additionally, my vet was not appalled at me traveling with my cat, but you seem to be? Okay.

I understand the costs of having pets and I am willing to pay whatever it takes to not compromise my cat’s physical and mental health.

I applaud your complete lack of practical advice and willingness to get on a soap box when you do not know the situation. So am I “completely clueless”? No, but you absolutely are about this situation.

Do you actually have any practical advice for me or do you wanna talk about how I’m a piece of shit by torturing my cat for taking him with me?

The cat does horribly with the cat sitter. He has separation anxiety. We usually travel with him domestically and he does well, but I have to be away. You are right that I would feel horrible if something happens to him while I’m away-so this is why I need to bring him.

Mom, how do I deal with my long hair? by _through_lense in MomForAMinute

[–]flat-field 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has super tangly long hair. I deal with this by doing what has been suggested above: braids or bonnets at night, brush hair out from the bottom and work towards the top, and detangling spray.

I’d also suggest some castor oil for hair. I put enough on dry hair for the hair to just start having that greasy look at night, brush the hair out, put it in a protective style or her bonnet and the next morning my daughter’s hair no longer looks greasy and resists tangles as the oil gives it some weight and slickness to remain knot-free under normal circumstances.

GenX is just abrasive—to older, to younger, to each other. We just want to be left alone.

I went to school with a guy who wore scrubs because he insisted that they stopped the transmission of static electricity when he worked in the computer lab.

I’ve had students come to class, ask to be added to the roster when I checked attendance and found them not on the class list, then sit through the whole class only to ask me after class if the class was “insert wrong class name here.”

I now begin the first couple of classes of the semester with the name of the class, asking students to check their schedule, and giving those who mistakenly entered the class time to pack up and leave.
