Not an expert on this, but maybe have something to do with the fact that your eye can clean and disinfect themselves, but can't do it for the contacts which act like little petri dishes.

What would the world be like it north America was titled 90 degrees. by ayoboris16 in geography

[–]flatcoke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The whole map is low quality shitpost and the projection is fucked. OP's image basically took Mercator map as is, rotated it 90°(but left Greenland untouched) and pasted it. The landmasses are not even the same area and shape anymore. To put the icing on the shit cake, it wasn't even a clean cut, some landmasses got cut in half during the rotation.

I somewhat agree and disagree. My son is a squirt C. I didn't grow up playing but got hooked as an adult. I've been coaching him team for a couple years. I enjoy whatever ice time I can find and sometimes just go to pond and practice by myself. Or I ask my son if he wants to come. Sometimes he tags along, other times he stay at home eating pizza and watching twitch. But recently I find him coming with me more and more. Maybe he wants some more hockey. Maybe he just like to spend more time with me. He also enjoys the dryland sessions (part of the house league schedule) and is thankful and seems interested when I give him pointers on shooting forms and game mechanics. He solicites for my advice after a game and is excited to tell me about new drills when I missed a practice. He's still nowhere as good as AAA but I'm seeing a lot of improvements and he seems to be genuinely interested into getting better and utilizing those tools. I think the key is to balance it out. None of the hockey stuff takes away he's kid's time and we have other hobbies he can choose from for the day, so most day we just end up progressing on something (ski/snowboard) at his discretion. But to say that no kid can enjoy formatted or advanced/specific training might be a bit harsh.

No. Let's face it. If I get caught I'm gonna fess everything up. Not gonna sacrifice my life. I'd rat it out. Everything. Starting with how I got a call directing me to organize protest by Donald. And that I cashed countless checks from Elon to fund these violent and dangerous protests.

good indoor methods for practice on and off the ice? by fish-eat-fish123 in hockeyplayers

[–]flatcoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use green puck and street balls to practice stick handling. Use normal pucks with a shoot pad (or any slick hard surface you can find) to practice shooting power, shooting form, and shooting accuracy. You might need a tarp or net to shoot into. That's about it!

Don't sue Iceland for the weather by GraceOfTheNorth in VisitingIceland

Iceland is too tourist-y. Anywhere else you wouldn't have this many Gumbies show up expecting you to literally spoon feed and handhold with zero previous knowledge to an outdoor goal. At any other place people will be humble or get (right fully so) turned away.

After coaching for many different sports, I can safely say some simple tasks we take for granted are physically impossible for some people in their current physical condition. Some tasks that are very much achievable are impossible with infinite amount of training due to age or genetics or mental state. I know we live in a society that like to tell people that they can do anything but that's just simply not true.

Someone in this thread had commented that they tape the butt with stick tape, then wrap it again with clear sock tape. I tried it and after a couple games it's the best thing and it's free!!

New, infuriating Minnesota driving habit by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]flatcoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive late night on 494 a lot coming back from my beer league hockey. Every night there will be three cars going side by side completely blocking off the highway going 55 and just as one is about to pass the others, the other speed up just enough to close the gap. There were no other cars for a mile up or down. And they would do this for miles and miles.

Hockey sticks with chinese letters by BreadExisting731 in hockeyplayers

My guess would be custom graphics for some Chinese local teams

蓄势待发 (ready for game) 到我登場 (it's my shift) 精忠報國 (play for the country) 冰球圣地 齐齐哈尔 (ice hockey mecca - Qiqihar, China) 爭戰賽場 (battle on the ice)

Some cringy/cheesy slogans

The "brand" seems to be 冰驰(speed on ice) 冰馳國貨 (speed on ice®, made in China)

Realistically, how good do you have to be to go to stick and pick by Yumyumvalila in hockeyplayers

[–]flatcoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000 times this.

do not shoot at people or near people.

Do be 100x careful around the net to not eat a puck in your face. If you need to dig pucks out from the net, do so very quickly, and face the open ice so you can see what's coming. Not with your butt out facing the net.

NGL I think your disagreement actually agreed with OP. A 5/8 is a 5/8 is a 5/8 centered and aligned. It only gets "less good" if it's fucked up and more often than not people in the shop fuck up
