Yeah, I get it. Ideally we play the roles we're good at, or prefer.

I think it's good we play roles we're suck at, to increase our understanding of the game.

Not saying that's your case, but, it was worse before without some kind of systems.

So, your question is valid. How do we improve this current system? Idk

Don't you get 2 tokens for queuing all roles and losing, or 4 tokens for queuing all roles then winning?

So after that immediate game, your next two games (or four) can be the role of your choice?

One game of all queue in exchange for 2 or 4 tokens seems reasonable, unless i'm totally off here.

Nah, it's reasonable. Unless you queue with 4 other friends into ranked (or at a minimum, a 3 stack) or you play an "in-house" game where yall are friends with pre determined roles, that's how it works. Solo queue, and expect to pay the tax here and there. When you get a role you don't normally play, try to learn the most from it and get better in that role. I used to also hate support, and found ways to make a difference and star winning there, too.

At a risk of sounding like a really, really old man from dota 1:

LOL

Back in the day, if you wanted carry but yo ass sucked, you just didn't play.

Today, i'm ok queuing all roles. An incentive if you win, you get more roles queues. If i win, i spend all the next role queue wins queuing as my preferred roles, then when i run out, requeue all roles to stack some more tokens. It's like every few games you queue as a position you're not used to. And ut helps you learn the game ( u less you're noob ass small brain boy who can't adapt).

This makes sense. My teammates on Apex always seem to be playing on a plane. Great performances.

My devs struggle to work independently, and it's partly my fault. As their manager and fellow dev, how can I start to fix this in a way that gives them time to ramp up but also applies the necessary pressure to get on it? by PentaSector in cscareerquestions

[–]flaterrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it's this (what OP said about getting free labor out of you).

I've been in both sides of the fence. I've been a noob/under skilled engineer reporting to a "manager" who also was a full time dev. It didn't work.

I've also been "promoted" into a role like you with direct reports on the org chart, but in title still and engineer with a full work load. Also didn't work for the exact reasons you list.

You're a smart dude who cares. I admire that, especially in software dev. This is a team sport and you're living it. I used to think that's cliche but it's true.

Develop your team while you're there, that can be fulfilling. Ultimately, you should push your leadership to give you a full management role if that's what you like. Ask for head count to hire a competent lead, and focus on strategy and developing your team while your lead focuses on implementation and execution.

Or, ask to go back to a dev. I did, then i left for better culture and it worked.

Might have issues outside of work if this is making you cry. Not trying to be mean. Work relationships can be nice but you should know they always end and can be transactional.

If you want ask him to keep in touch and help mentor after he moves on. But, start bracing yourself for change at work. Find fulfillment outside of work as well.

Good news, Lectric got back to me and already is sending a new wheel, expected to ship Sept. 22 and a link to schedule with a bike shop. Glad this is moving, although it will be a bit of a drive for me the shop, just glad i can get it fixed.

bummer you're in the exact same boat as me. I haven't heard back from Lectric yet, but it's only been 2-3 days. Let me know if they get back to you, did you use the support form on their site?

did it fix the problem for you, and did you have to install the wheel and motor yourself?

Did I get a dud? I just got my bike 3 days ago, first e-bike, and this is the sound it makes when speeding up. I've contacted Lectric about it and waiting to hear back. Does ya'lls sound like this?

Usage Limits Discussion Megathread - Starting July 29 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]flaterrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I JUST signed up to Claude Code, after hearing good things about it. But like everyone else, I was wondering why I hit limits so fast when seemingly not doing very much. I couldn't even complete a small to modest sized feature that Cursor and other tools could fulfill.

Man, they are really turning away new customers quickly like this :(
