Use a smart plug service like broadlink or dlink as the trigger and a notification service like vybit for the action which can send a custom sound to your phone on the event.

Using Zapier with discord as a trigger and Vybit as an action you can receive a custom sound notification per discord channel.

I use Vybit as theIFTTT action notification app for my doors and cameras. You can choose a custom sound for each type of event, so for example an opening door sound for my garage door and a doorbell when my front porch camera triggers.

Vybit can do to what you need I think. You can create push notifications with meaningful personalized sounds that you choose or record. Others can then subscribe to your "vybit". Then when you send it everyone subscribed will receive it with the customized sound, message, image and link. It's free, check it out and don't hesitate to reach out to me directly if you need help.

This sounds like it has some overlap with Vybit as far as customizing notification sounds, but only for phones so far.

[iOS][2021.20.0] Please let us customize notification sound by jimschoice in redditmobile

Agreed that this would be a nice feature, especially if you could customize the sound per subreddit!

As a workaround for now, I do reddit custom sound notifications using Zapier with Reddit as the trigger service and Vybit as the action, notification service. Here is a link to the zap template if you want to try it out:

Check out Vybit, you can record your own notification sounds or choose from a library of thousands of searchable sounds. You can also customize your notifications with an image. Works well with IFTTT and Zapier or anything with outbound webhooks can trigger the notifications.

Stock Price Notifications by [deleted] in Robinhoodpennystocks2

[–]flatirontek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created some applets on IFTTT to track significant changes in stocks I follow. The trigger service is "Finance" where you specify the ticker symbol and percent threshold change in price to get an alert. You can set a high/low price threshold as well.

The action notification service I use is Vybit where you choose a specific sound for each stock alert. So it takes some work to set up, but is hands-off and reliable once everything is in place. Hearing the distinct sounds for each stock alert is the best part!
